 Over the past three years the school improvement team has focussed on improving the quality of education, teaching and pupil standards in Ceredigion in Key Stages 1, 2 and 3.  Teacher Assessment results have shown a significant improvement between 2009 and  Standardised tests for reading, spelling and numeracy were implemented in October This will increase the focus on Numeracy and Literacy  Dros y 3 mlynedd diwethaf mae’r tim gwella ysgolion wedi ffocysu ar well safon addysg, dysgu a chyrraeddiadau disgyblion Ceredigion ar draws Cyfnodau Allweddol 1, 2 a 3.  Mae canlyniadau Asesiadau Athrawon wedi dangos gwelliant sylweddol rhwng 2009 a  Rhoddwyd profion safonol mewn lle ar gyfer darllen, sillafu a rhifeg yn Hydref Bydd hyn yn cynyddu’r ffocws as Rifedd a Llythrennedd.

 During DECS assisted Ceredigion secondary schools to target those pupils on the C / D boundary, especially in Maths, Welsh and English.  This led to a signficant increase in the percentage of pupils achieving the level 2 threshold.  The Ceredigion average wider point score is among the highest in Wales.  Yn ystod fe gynorthwyodd yr AAGC ysgolion uwchradd Ceredigion i dargedi disgyblion oedd ar ffin C i D yn arbennig yn Mathemateg, Cymraeg a Saesneg.  Arweiniodd hyn at gynydd sylweddol yng nghanran y disgyblion oedd yn cyrraedd trothwy lefel 2.  Mae cyfartaledd pwyntiau ehangach Ceredigion ymhlith yr uchaf yng Nghymru.

 Ceredigion secondary schools are attracting a higher percentage of pupils back to 6th form.  There are a low number of young people classified as NEET in Ceredigion. Destination data for school leavers at the end of year 11 shows that only 2.3% are known to be NEET compared to 5.4% across Wales (1st lowest in Wales).  The Measure has placed budgetary pressures on Ceredigion secondary schools.  Mae Ysgolion Uwchradd Ceredigion yn denu cyfran uwch o ddisgyblion yn ol i’r 6ed dosbarth.  Mae nifer isel o bobl ifanc NEET yn Ceredgion. Dengys data mai dim ond 2.3% o’r disgyblion sy’n troi’n NEET ar ddiwedd blwyddyn 11 o’i gymharu gyda 5.4% ar draws Cymru. (Isaf yng Nghymru)  Mae Mesur wedi gosod pwysau ar gyllid ysgolion uwchradd Ceredigion.

 8/8 primary schools have received a grade of good or better from Estyn for their performance.  234 surplus places were removed. However, the percentage of surplus places is still high in Ceredigion (25% in both the primary and secondary sectors)  8/8 ysgol gynradd wedi derbyn gradd da neu well gan Estyn am eu perfformiad  Fe ddiddymwyd 234 lle gwag. Mae canran llefydd gwag Ceredigion dal yn uchel (25% yn y sector cynradd a’r uwchradd).

 The HAFAN and ENCIL model is fully operational in all 7secondary schools.  This has significantly helped schools to reduce the number of days lost to fixed term and permanent exclusions.  Targeted support has been provided to secondary schools to help improve their attendance rates.  Mae’r model HAFAN ac Encil yn weithredol ar draws y 7 ysgol uwchradd.  Mae’r model wedi helpu ysgolion i leihau’r nifer o ddiwrnodau sydd wedi ei colli i eithriadau parhaol a thymor byr.  Rhoddwyd cymorth wedi ei dargedi i ysgolion uwchradd i’w cynorthwyo i wella cyfraddau presenoldeb.

 The number of Young people accessing the Youth Service increased from 2,205 to 3,054 in 2010/11.  Accredited opportunities being undertaken are Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme, OCN’s, NOCN 3. During 2010/11 accreditation gained has increased by 61% which equates to 231 individuals.  In 2010/11 sixteen grants were allocated to the voluntary sector from capital and twenty two grants allocated from the revenue. A total of 1272 individual young people participated in activities organised from money secured  Welsh speaking staff has increased within the service from 66% to 81%.  Cynyddodd nifer y bobl ifanc sy’n defnyddio’r Gwasanaeth Ieuenctid o 2,205 i 3,054 yn 2010/11.  Mae’r cyfleoedd wedi eu achredu yn cynnwys Gwobr Dug Caeredin, OCN, NOCN 3.  72% year 6 pupils studied Welsh as a first language in 2011 (71% prior year). This was the 3rd highest in Wales.  93% of pupils studying Welsh as a first language in a Ceredigion primary school continued to study Welsh first language when they transferred to secondary school in (83% prior year)  Astudiodd 72% o ddisgyblion blwyddyn 6 Gymraeg fel iaith gyntaf yn 2011 (71% y flwyddyn flaenorol). Dyma’r trydydd uchaf yng Nghymru.  Parhaodd 93% o ddisgyblion oedd yn astudio Cymraeg fel iaith gyntaf i astudio Cymraeg fel iaith gyntaf ar ôl trosglwyddo i’r ysgol uwchradd yn 2010 (83% yn y flwyddyn flaenorol).

 During the academic year 15 (14 prior) Welsh in the workplace classes were provided and these were attended by 101 learners.  During the academic year pre-audit figures show that 714 (648 prior) Welsh in the Community learners achieved a total of 11,105 CEUs (8,048 prior) through lifelong learning courses provided by Ceredigion County Council.  Yn ystod y flwyddyn academaidd darparwyd15 (14 gynt) dosbarth Cymareg yn y gweithle.
