English Teaching Resources There are many opportunities to teach English all over the world. Many schools and programs prefer native English speakers and a commitment of at least one school year, although there may be exceptions. Commonly a bachelor’s degree is required but not necessarily limited to a particular major. Some opportunities may be well paid, while others may only provide lodging and a stipend or be on a volunteer basis. Resources for teaching abroad opportunities:

English Teaching Resources There are also many very good English teaching jobs available through cultural missions of country embassies in the US. Some examples: JET program through Japanese Embassy: japan.go.jp/JET/index.htmlhttp:// japan.go.jp/JET/index.html North American Language and Culture Assistants in Spain: programas/convocatorias-eeuu/auxiliares-conversacion-eeuu.html programas/convocatorias-eeuu/auxiliares-conversacion-eeuu.html Teach English in Korea through the Ministry of Education: If you are interested in a particular country, take a look at their consulate website in the US for teach/work/study advice and opportunities.

Questions to Ask Where do you want to teach? Region/Country? Pay? Stipend or Salary and what includes? Cost of lodging/living in city/town? Responsibilities: How many hours of work and what kind of teaching assistance, training, or materials provided? TESOL or TEFL or any certification to teach English required?
