Mrs. Lamb

 Beta: Must have total of 10 community service hours by the Spring semester (April 20, 2016)  NHS & Beta: Must have total of 20 community service hours by the Spring semester (April 20, 2016)

 Hours CANNOT roll over from year to year  Hours should be between the months of August 25, 2015 – April 20, Summer hours will not be included.  Two hours for Breakfast Buddies per semester will be allowed.  Volunteer hours CANNOT consist of any activity Monday through Friday (a regular school day) during the hours between 7:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Spring Flings, family involvement, and babysitting do not count!  Hours must be earned in a minimum of 3 different activities.

 When you complete your hours, you must fill out a Volunteer form. Even if you volunteer at a Beta/NHS event, you MUST still fill out the form! If the form is not turned in on time, you will be considered on probation.  Forms are located in Mrs. Lamb’s room and on the website for Beta Club and NHS.  You must completely fill out the form, providing all necessary information. The adult in charge of the program must also provide a working phone number and signature.  Hours will be checked!

 All meetings are mandatory!!!  Absences that will be excused WITH A NOTE: 1. Doctor’s appointment – doctor’s note required 2. Game or performance for band, chorus etc. (Not practice!) - note from coach/teacher required 3. Absent from school on meeting day - Note from attendance required  NO NOTE WITHIN 5 days OF MEETING = UNEXCUSED ABSENCE!  TWO UNEXCUSED ABSENCES = LOSS OF MEMBERSHIP

 Members must contain good conduct.  Any member caught cheating in any way will be dismissed from the club. (This includes lying on hours forms.)  Any member who is suspended, in or out of school, for any violation will lose membership.

 Beta: 3.3 weighted  NHS: 4.0 weighted  At the end of the first semester (2/22/2016), you must bring your GPA (either a transcript or a signed paper from Guidance) to Mrs. Lamb.  If you fail to provide your GPA, you will be placed on probation.  If you do not provide your GPA, nor do you complete your service hours, this will serve as two infractions and you will be removed from the club.

 If you do not complete your hours, you will be placed on probation. Probation entails that you will complete double the hours in a specified amount of time.  If you do not complete the doubled hours, you will be removed from the Beta Club and National Honor Society.  If you have questions about probation guidelines, see Mrs. Lamb immediately.

 Turn in a one page essay (MLA format) by Wednesday, September 9, 2015 that answers the following questions: -- Why do you want to be an officer? -- Why do you deserve to be an officer? -- How would you be effective as an officer?  After reading the essays, Mrs. Lamb and Mr. Sweeney will allow the clubs to vote.  Positions include: President, Vice President, Secretary, Sergeant at Arms, and Historian for EACH club.  You can only hold one position.  Responsibilities: Running the Induction ceremonies, planning and orchestrating a community service activity, attending EVERY meeting, etc… If you do not fulfill these duties, your position will be revoked.
