1) February 29 and March 11 – Scheduling of courses through the Social Studies classes 2) Students will be instructed in the use of the Skyward Student Access Portal for Course Selection 3) Students make requests for courses in Skyward Student Access. 4) Students will take materials home and work with their parents on course selection online.

5) Your current classroom teachers will be making recommendations in English, Math, Social Studies, and Science. 6) You will be taking tests for placement in upper level Math and Science. 7) You will not be allowed to “self select” for these 4 academic areas or for PE. Students may change their elective choices up until April 1. 8) If you sign up and pay for summer PE, you may request that alternate electives be placed in the schedule.

9) Remember these are requests and don’t represent your actual schedule. Students are asked to put Alternate Requests in Skyward in case of conflict, full classes, or summer PE. 10) If all goes as planned, we hope to have schedules by the end of the school year. ***The letter the students bring home needs to be returned to CMS Guidance by April 1 with a parent signature.

Course selection for the 9 th grade year will allow ANY student to be on track for ANY diploma. Grades earned in the 9 th grade year will begin the separation process for the various diplomas. All CHS diplomas require 47 credits. Please refer to the CHS Course Description Book for the specifics of all diplomas.

 Completion of this diploma is considered to be an Indiana graduation requirement.  This is a set of courses to help prepare students for success in college or the workforce.  This diploma is a minimum requirement for admission to 4-year colleges.  These courses are strongly recommended for admission to 2-year colleges and entry into the workforce.

 Additional requirements in Math.  World Language is required.  Fine Arts credits are required.  Dual credit, Advanced Placement, or International Baccalaureate courses are required.  No grade lower than a C- for a semester grade is allowed  Final cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher is required.

CURRENT DUNELAND STUDENTS (at CMS for Grade 8):  Students will be able to make changes to their elective choices in Skyward until April 1. After that contact Mrs. Moffett. No changes will be made after May 1.  Specific registration information for the upcoming year will be forth coming.

 STUDENTS NEW TO DUNELAND (not enrolled at CMS for Grade 8): You will need to complete an enrollment packet, available in the Guidance Office at CHS. You will be given an appointment in the spring to meet with a counselor and set up a schedule.  Out-of-district and tuition transfer students must apply every year through the Central Office.  Specific registration information for the upcoming year will be forthcoming.

  Indiana’s 21st Century Scholars is a needs- and performance-based program that provides students the opportunity to earn up to a four-year scholarship at an Indiana college or university.  Hoosier students who meet income criteria can enroll during their 7th- or 8th-grade year of middle school. Students commit to maintaining academic success, remaining drug and alcohol free, and completing college-preparation activities.  Deadline for enrollment is June 30, 2016.

 Decisions for CTE (vocational) programs are made in the sophomore year  These are competitive programs by GPA  CHS has a wide range of opportunities ( a list is on the CHS website)

 Textbook Rental is the course fees  Some courses have additional out of pocket expenses which are outlined in the Course Description Book  Additional items needed for class are carried in the bookstore  New procedure for PE uniforms, they will be purchased at Blythe’s or the bookstore. You may use your uniform from CMS.  The corporation does accept debit/credit cards for a small additional fee  One handbook is provided per student, additional handbooks are available at the bookstore for $5  Textbooks rotate on a six year rotation cycle
