CP1 Overarching Policy on Sustainable Development  Sets out how development will contribute to the sustainability of the District  Introduces a carbon emission reduction target of at least 25% less carbon dioxide emissions than currently required by Building Regulations Part L (2006) with a minimum of 10% being provided by on-site renewable and/or low carbon (i.e. Combined Heat and Power) energy supply systems.

CP1 Overarching Policy on Sustainable Development  Submit CPLAN Energy and Sustainability Statement  Demonstrate sustainability principles incorporated in planning proposals and the expected carbon emissions

CPLAN Energy Statement  On-line tool  You can evaluate a variety of sustainability measures  Provides links to useful information  You can demonstrate carbon emission performance of development compliance with targets set by the Council

Sustainability Check List  On-line checklist  Answer questions on a range of issues – biodiversity, transport, water, recycling etc  Provides an overview of the sustainability performance of application  Provides links to useful information

CP4 Affordable Housing  45% of all new housing to be affordable  Development resulting in a net gain of one or more dwellings expected to contribute  Consider commuted payments towards provision off site

Core Strategy Stages  Approved by Council (April 2010)  Publication (June 2010)  Submission (Sept 2010)  Examination (Jan 2011)  Adoption (July 2011)

Status of Policies  Policies will be used in the determination of planning applications at the point of Submission (Autumn 2010)  Increasing weight as progress towards Adoption  Transitional stage between Local Plan polices and emerging Core Strategy policies
