Water Cycle (Also known as the hydrologic cycle)
Part I The hydrologic cycle.  This is also called the water cycle  It is the recycling of the water between the oceans, land and atmosphere  There.

 Last week we discussed how run-off can occur two different ways:  Surface Run-off – water flowing on the surface to streams, rivers and oceans.  Subsurface.
What is the water cycle? The water cycle is the repeated movement of water through Earth’s environment. Water changes form as it moves through the water.
Currents and Climate. There are two types of currents: There are two types of currents: –Surface –Density.
The cycle starts when the sun's heat provides energy to evaporate water from the surface. Then, winds lift the water vapor from the ocean over the lands.

SOL Review

Ground water layers from the surface down Would include zone of aeration, water table, & zone of saturation.

An Aquifer is a layer of rock that transports groundwater freely.

A spring is an area where the water table reaches the land’s surface.

The water cycle includes the processes of evaporation, condensation, precipitation, and runoff.

We have 2 high tides and 2 low tides each day.

Tides are caused by the gravitational pull of the Earth, Moon, and the Sun.

Surface currents move warm water toward the poles and Cold water toward the equator.

Upwelling brings cold, nutrient rich water from the bottom of the Ocean to the surface. This is rich in biological activity.
