Practice Graphing Compound Inequalities on Number Lines 1.Get into groups of 2. Each group will need an iPad. 2.On the iPad, open up the Safari app. Go to the IXL Learning Inc. website: Once you have reached the website your group may begin graphing the first compound inequality on the screen. 4.For each problem on the website, groups will see a compound inequality and a number line. Students must click the endpoints once if the variable could be equal to the endpoint and twice if the variable cannot be equal to the endpoint. These actions will make an open or closed circle to appear on the endpoint. Once each endpoint is chosen, a line will form in between. 5.The website will score the answers in the bottom left corner of the screen. Once all groups have finished, whoever has the highest score wins. Students will use the IXL Learning Inc. website through the Safari app on iPads to practice graphing compound inequalities on number lines. This task uses: Learning Objective(s): To solve and graph inequalities containing the word “and” To solve and graph inequalities containing the word “or” S SUBSTITUTION Technology acts a direct substitute, with no functional improvement

Color Swap Activity – QR Code Scavenger Hunt 1.Get into groups of 3 or 4. Each group will need an iPad. Each individual will need a Color Swap Activity Answer Sheet. 2.On the iPad, open the I-Nigma app. 3.Five QR codes are randomly located throughout the library/classroom. Once you find a QR code, scan it by placing the iPad camera over the code. The code should scan automatically. 4.Once a code is scanned, click “Go Online.” This will open up a PDF File attached to that QR code. 5.Solve each problem on the PDF File on the Color Swap Activity Answer Sheet. 6.When you’ve finished solving a problem, reopen the I-Nigma app and find another QR code to scan. Students will use the iPads to scan QR codes that are placed in various locations throughout the library, classroom, or hallway. The QR codes are linked to word problems that the students must solve. This task uses: Learning Objective(s): To solve and graph inequalities containing the word “and” To solve and graph inequalities containing the word “or” A AUGMENTATION Technology acts as a direct tool for substitution with some functional improvement.

Kahoot Creation 1.Get into groups of 3 or 4. Each group will need a Kahoot Creation sheet and an iPad. Each individual will need a blank sheet of paper. 2.On the Kahoot Creation sheet, come up with 5 compound inequalities as a group. After solving your inequality, write down the correct answer along with 3 other incorrect answers. You will use these as answer choices in your Kahoot Quiz. 3.Once all the group Kahoot Quizzes are posted, we will work the quizzes that were created with student questions. Write down the questions, answer choices, and your work in solving the inequalities on your blank sheet of paper. Turn all papers in at the end of class. Students will create a quiz in Kahoot, which other groups will then take. This task uses: Safari Learning Objective(s): To solve and graph inequalities containing the word “and” To solve and graph inequalities containing the word “or” M MODIFICATION Technology allows for significant task redesign.

ScreenChomp Presentation 1.Get into groups of 4. Each group will need an iPad and ScreenChomp Presentation Plan Sheet. 2.Brainstorm ideas of a life situation that involves a compound inequality. You can use the Safari app to research possible situations. 3.Use the ScreenChomp Presentation Plan Sheet to plan your presentation. Plan your entire project before you use the ScreenChomp app. 4.Choose one person in your group to explain each section of the Presentation Plan Sheet audibly and visually. Make sure everyone knows what to say and draw on the screen before you start recording! 5.Open the ScreenChomp app. Touch RECORD to capture your touch interactions and audio instructions on a plain background. (You may have to erase the screen at some point throughout your presentation to make sure the next person has enough space on the screen to present. To do this, press the screen for 3 seconds to clear.) 6.When you’re finished recording, choose SAVE ONLY MODE to save your video to the camera roll of the iPad. 7.Go to blackboard.com on the Safari app and sign in. Search for my BlackBoard site (Insert Teacher’s Name Here). Upload your video to the class blog. Post a positive comment to one other group’s presentation. Students will use the ScreenChomp app on their iPad to create an audio and visual presentation of a life situation involving a compound inequality. This task uses: Safari ScreenChomp Learning Objective(s): To create a real life situation involving compound inequalities To solve and graph inequalities containing the word “and” To solve and graph inequalities containing the word “or” R REDEFINITION Technology allows for the creation of new tasks that were previously not conceivable.
