Please complete the writing in your notes based on the painting on the next slide. 1.Describe this painting in at least five sentences. 1.Describe the background of this painting. 2.What do the details reveal about this woman? 2.Describe the woman in the painting in at lease three sentences (use strong diction!). 1.What can you tell about her by looking at her clothes, where she is and what she is doing? 3.What details has the artist included to let the viewer get to know her? 4.Why might the artist have titled this The Shepherd’s Star? 5.If you could ask this woman one question, what would it be? WHY?

What effect does this have on the reader? 2.What is a lifeline? How is Angelou's use of the word different from its usual use? How does this diction affect your understanding of the sentence?
