R&J Act III and Second Semester expectations Day 1-Foundations/English I

Objectives 1. Analyze Shakespearean language for connotation and denotation of phrases. 2. Discuss rules and expectations for second semester. 3. Determine the connotative meaning of words as they are used in a text; analyze the cumulative impact of specific word choices on meaning and tone. Homework: Grades will be put into power school today Supplies due Tuesday Student info sheet due tomorrow Romeo and Juliet Act 3 quiz Tuesday- Worksheet due Tuesday

Warm Up Answer the following questions 1. What do you expect from English I class? 2. What do you think will be different about English I (compared to Foundations)? 3. Do you know your learning style? If so, what is it? (Auditory, Visual, or Physical)

Rules: 1. Respect your instructors, classmates, the school, and yourself. 2. Be seated and ready when the bell rings. 3. Raise your hand in class. 4. Keep the classroom neat and clean. 5. Follow directions the first time they are given.

Laptop Procedure: Retrieving and returning laptops. 1. The first person in each row will retrieve enough laptops for their entire row. 2. Pass the laptops one at the time back to the person behind you.

Look at each part of Google Classroom. Each assignment must be submitted and turned in.

Let's try one. Everyone click on the assignment labeled "Information about You" Download the text file and open it as a Google doc. (click file and open as google doc) Complete start answering the questions. This is due tomorrow by 7am. You must also download the syllabus and read it by tomorrow.

R&J Act III Get a computer and download the Act III study guide. Look up the definitions. Act III study guide is due when we finish the Act. Make sure you have all questions answered up to the reading we have completed..
