INTRODUCTION  An accomplished and highly respected businessman based in Oman, Dr P Mohamed Ali is a multifaceted personality known for his strong commitment in education and philanthropy.  He has made significant contributions to the infrastructure development in Oman and India and is regarded as a caring patron of the large Indian expatriate community in the gulf region.  Dr P Mohamed Ali ’s initiatives in the Oman’s education sector are legendary.  These include an Indian School, where over 3500 Indian students study; the Caledonian College of Engineering, the Oman Medical College, training medical doctors and pharmacists,; and the two operator’s institutes giving on-job training to Omani nationals.  The combined student population of institutions promoted by P Mohamed Ali is over

 The Indian School Al-Ghubra (ISG) is an independent, co-educational private day school located in the city of Muscat in the Sultanate of Oman.  The educational establishment was founded in July 1990 by Indian born Omani businessman Dr P Mohamed Ali, the Managing Director of Galfar Engineering and Contracting, one of the largest construction companies in Oman.  Mr. B S Bhatnagar was the principal of the school from 1991 to Spring  The present principal is Mrs. Papri Ghosh, who succeeded Mr. G.  Caledonian College of Engineering, in Muscat is / South Al Hail, was founded in 1996/97 by P Mohamed Ali.P Mohamed Ali  Caledonian College of Engineering (CCE) is the leading private higher education institution providing high quality technological education for the Sultanate of Oman and the region in general.  The College has an affiliation agreement with Glasgow Caledonian University in the UK and a collaboration agreement with Vellore Institute of Technology University in India and has produced over 1,700 diplomates and over 3,000 graduates and 50 postgraduates since its inception in  Today, CCE is widely regarded as one of the most prestigious private academic institutions in the country with a student population of around 3,700 and over 390 academic, support and administrative staff.  The Caledonian College of Engineering maintains an academic connection to the Scottish Glasgow Caledonian University.  Oman Medical College is the second medical college in the Sultanate of Oman, and is situated in Sohar in the North Batinha region.  The premedical campus is located in Bowsher. First year is taught as a foundation course and second and third years are completed in Bowsher campus before the medical school years of Sohar campus.  Some part of the coursework is also completed in Rustaq with students taking courses with doctors at Rustaq hospital.  The associated hospital with the Sohar campus is Sohar hospital, one of the biggest governmental hospitals in the country.  Total course work spans over a period of 7 years and the degree awarded is that of a Doctor of Medicine (M.D).  The Bowsher campus also offers a degree in pharmacy (Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy).
