EDUCATION AND LIFELONG LEARNING – Education Statistics Current situation - preschool education, primary, secondary and high education Preschool education and upbringing: nursery and kindergartens. Primary education is compulsory for all children aged 6 to 15. Primary education lasts nine years and it is split in three cycles (I-III; IV-VI; VII-IX). Secondary education is divided into: general secondary education (gymnasiums) and secondary vocational education (3 and 4 years). There are three levels of studies of high education: basic, post graduate (specialist and masters) and doctorial programs. EDUCATION AND LIFELONG LEARNING – Education Statistics Current situation Statistics surveys includes all the levels of formal education in Montenegro: preschool, primary, secondary and high education which are working under program approved by the competent Ministry, regardless of the ownership form. EDUCATION AND LIFELONG LEARNING – Education Statistics Current situation- According to Statistics plan 13 annual surveys are conducted: 1.Statistics survey of institutions for preschool education, 2.Statistics survey of primary schools, 3.Statistics survey of primary education for children with special educational needs, 4.Statistics survey of primary education for adults, 5.Statistics survey of elementary music education, 6.Statistics survey of secondary schools, 7.Statistics survey of secondary education for children with special educational needs 8.Statistics survey of academic, professional staff and the structure of high school organizations, 9.Statistics survey of enrollment (basic studies), 10.Statistics survey of graduate students (basic studies), 11.Statistics survey of PhDs, 12.Statistics survey of masters of science and specialists, 13.Statistics survey of - admission to post graduate and doctorate studies. EDUCATION AND LIFELONG LEARNING – Education Statistics  Data on preschool, primary and secondary education refer to school year.  Survey for primary and secondary education are carried out for beginning and the end of the school year.  Data on enrolled students refer to academic year, while data on graduate studies, that is acquired titles, refer to calendar year. MONSTAT forwarded UIS questionnaire in July 2012, for the first time, with data which refer to preschool, primary and secondary education for 2010/2011 and 2011/2012 school year to the Statistical Institute (UNESCO). EDUCATION AND LIFELONG LEARNING – Education Statistics  Future harmonization Adopting of national classification for education (levels) which is consistent with classification ISCED till the end of 2013 Adopting of national classification of study programs according to the fields of education in accordance with international classification (Fields of Education and Training, Manual) Mapping of national programs of education and qualifications according to ISCED 1997, and ISCED 2011 Establishing stable cooperation with competent institutions by signing the agreement Transition to administrative sources for preschool, primary and secondary education (MEIS) Provide data on the education financing Completion and submission UOE questionnaire to EUROSTAT STATISTICS Chapter 18: M O N T E N E G R O Negotiating Team for Accession of Montenegro to the European Union Chapter 18: Statistics

EDUCATION AND LIFELONG LEARNING – Lifelong learning  This module covers professional training and lifelong learning. Data for this module in EU countries are obtained from:  Labour force survey LFS – gives results according to the participation in lifelong learning (age group 15 +),  Adult Education Survey AES,  Continuing Vocational Training Survey CVTS. Current situation Statistical Office is not conducting CVTS (Continuing Vocational Training Survey), AES (Adult Education Survey).
