Persuasion uses facts and emotional appeals to change a person’s mind or promote a desired behavior. Propaganda uses nonfactual information or opinions that appear to be facts along with emotional appeals to change a person’s mind or promote a desired behavior.

An advertising tactic designed to generate publicity about a controversial campaign is called shock advertising

Using an image of a baby about to inject heroin into his system is an example of shock advertising.

Advertising techniques for websites include the pop up, pop under, fixed panel, XXL box, and pushdown.
