Alessia De Carolis 1 COMENIUS PROJECT NOVEMBER-APRIL Greece, 11th of April 2010 ISTITUTO COMPRENSIVO “VIA PALOMBINI,39 – ROMA”

Alessia De Carolis 2 PREPARING COMENIUS CORNER STUDENTS WORKED HARD TO REALIZE OUR COMENIUS CORNER!! THEY STARTED REDECORATING THE WALLS, THEN THEY BEGAN SEARCHING FOR NEWS, PHOTOS, IMAGES OF EACH PARTICIPATING COUNTRY. IT WAS A REAL FUN FOR THEM TO DISCOVER GEOGRAPHY, HISTORY, USES AND HABITS OF FOREIGN NATIONS.

Alessia De Carolis 3 PREPARING COMENIUS CORNER ALL COUNTRIES HAD A PARTICULAR SPACE. CHILDREN DECIDED TO USE THE COLOURS OF THE NATIONAL FLAG OF EACH NATION AND TO LEARN SOME WORDS IN EACH TONGUE: HELLO, FRIEND, THANK YOU, GOOD BYE. GENIUS AT WORK!!!!!

Alessia De Carolis 4 CHRISTMAS TIME! PREPARING AND EXCHANGING CARDS CLASS IV GIRLS CHOOSING CARDS TO SEND. FOR THE STUDENTS THESE WERE CHEERFUL MOMENTS: THEY WERE SO HAPPY!

Alessia De Carolis 5 ART AND LIVING VALUES ACTIVITIES WE HAD 5 NEW STUDENTS IN CLASS IV THIS YEAR. IT WAS VERY IMPORTANT FOR US TO WORK ON RULES, FRIENDSHIP, RESPECT, MUTUAL HELP, COLLABORATION, PERSONAL FEELINGS AND BEHAVIOR. THAT’S WHY WE CHOSE TO USE ROLE PLAYING, BRAINSTORMING, ART, DRAMA, POETRY AS WAYS OF KNOWING EACH OTHER AND GETTING ON WELL. PICTURE BY A.L. “A PARTY WITH MY FRIENDS”

Alessia De Carolis 6 MY BEST FRIEND O. M. “SHE WAS THE FIRST TO ACCEPT TO PLAY WITH ME” A.M. “SHE’S CALM. SHE NEVER SCREAMS” A.A.” I LOVE PLAYING BASKETBALL WITH HIM” S. B. “WHEN SHE’S WITH ME SHE FEELS STRONGER” C. B. “GOING TO SCHOOL IS EASIER WITH HER” A. L. “I LIKE HER SMILE”

Alessia De Carolis 7 WHAT YOU FEEL IS HOW I FEEL. DISCOVERING DIFFERENCES AND SIMILARITIES WE EXPERIENCE DIFFERENT SHADES OF EMOTIONS AND FEELINGS. PEOPLE PERCEIVE OUR STATE OF MIND AND PROVE THE SAME. SOMETIMES CHILDREN SEEM TO FORGET THAT WHAT THEY FEEL ( AND HOW THEY FEEL) IS HOW ANOTHER PERSON CAN FEEL TOO. WE TRIED TO MAKE IT CLEAR WITH THE HELP OF GENTLE PSYCHOLOGIST. SHE USED ROLE PLAYING AND BRAIN STORMING TECHNIQUES TO KEEP IN TOUCH WITH CHILDREN IN A SIMPLE, FUNNY BUT USEFUL WAY. CHILDREN FOLLOWED IDEAS AN SUGGESTIONS AND REALIZED THIS PICTURE.

Alessia De Carolis 8 SAFETY AT SCHOOL FEELING WELL AT SCHOOL MEANS TO LIVE IN A SAFE PLACE. WE EXPLORED OUR SCHOOL TO MAKE IT CLEAR AND WE DISCOVERED THAT…YES IT IS!! IN CLASS WE FOCUSED ON WHAT TO DO IN CASE OF FIRE OR EARTHQUAKE. TEACHERS WERE SURPRISED TO FIND OUT THAT CHILDREN KNEW AND REMEMBERED MORE THAT THEY COULD IMAGINE!!

Alessia De Carolis 9 SAFETY AT SCHOOL KEEP AN EYE ON SAFETY! 626: A LAW ON SAFETY SYMBOLS

Alessia De Carolis 10 FRIENDSHIP ADVERTISEMENT WE ENCOURAGED CHILDREN TO FIND AN IMAGE AND A SLOGAN TO CREATE AN ADVERTISEMENT REPRESENTING FRIENDSHIP. DURING THE MAKING OF, THEY FELT REALLY INSPIRED SO THEY DECIDED TO PLAY WITH POETRY!!!

Alessia De Carolis 11 FRIENDSHIP ADVERTISEMENT POETRY CORNER

Alessia De Carolis 12 IT IS NORMAL TO BE DIFFERENT!!! AFTER READING SOME SHORT STORIES ABOUT DIVERSITY AND CULTURAL DIFFERENCES WE TRIED TO SUM UP, IN AN ADVERTISEMENT, WHAT WE THINK OF STEREOTYPES AND CULTURAL CLICHÉS.

Alessia De Carolis 13 IT IS NORMAL TO BE DIFFERENT!!!

Alessia De Carolis 14 THE SYNAGOGUE OF ROME IV CLASS STUDENTS ARE INVOLVED IN A PROJECT TO KNOW THE THREE MAIN RELIGIONS. TEACHERS EXPLAINED STUDENTS THAT KNOWING MEANS RESPECTING, RESPECT MEANS PEACE. WE VISITED THE SYNAGOGUE AND LEARNT ABOUT JEWISH HISTORY AND TRADITIONS.

Alessia De Carolis 15 AFTER RESPONDING THE QUESTIONNAIRE, CLASS V STUDENTS DECIDED TO COLLECT ALL THE DATA. THEY REPRODUCED THEM ON THEIR EXCERCISE BOOKS AND THEN ON A PPT. THIS IS THEIR WORK.

Alessia De Carolis 16 Do you like going to school?

Alessia De Carolis 17 LOGOS CLASS IV CLASS V CLASS II JUNIOR SCHOOL

Alessia De Carolis 18 CLASS III – ME & OTHERS IN CLASS III THERE ARE 15 STUDENTS: 11 BOYS AND 4 GIRLS. TEACHERS AND STUDENTS ARE AWARE THAT RULES ARE NECESSARY TO LIVE IN A GROUP. THEY WORKED ALL TOGETHER TO DEFINE A CLASS REGULATION. THEY DECIDED ALSO TO PARTICIPATE ACTIVELY IN CLASS: EVERY WEEK EACH CHILD HAS A PARTICULAR TASK. THIS IS ONE OF THE WORKS THE CLASS PREPARED TO SHOW THE IMPORTANCE OF FRIENDSHIP, RESPECT, COOPERATION, HELP.
