Unlucky since her birth, in Newgate Prison, she is a criminal’s daughter and is abandoned while her mother is moved to Virginia.

Adopted by a woman, Moll starts living in London and works as servant in a noble family. After that she is courted by the oldest son of the family, but she marries the youngest one and together they have two kids. After her husband’s death, she leaves her children to the family and acts as a rich widow to cheat other men.

1. The first of them gets poor and asks her to forget him. 2. The second one is a good man and brings her to his plantations in Virginia, but after having two kids, she discovers that he is her brother and decides to go back to England. 3. She moves to Bath and meets a man who is married to a disturbed woman. At first they have a platonic friendship which becomes real love. They have one kid, but after his illness, he wants to break up.

Moll goes back to London and, after other relationships and other children, she asks a woman for help, who had already helped her years ago, and becomes a thief. After much cheating, Moll gets arrested and, in prison, meets one of her husbands, a criminal too. Thanks to a priest she avoids the death and with her husband is sentenced to the penal colony of Virginia. With the stolen money and her mother’s legacy, Moll finally becomes a rich and respectable woman. After much cheating, Moll gets arrested and, in prison, meets one of her husbands, a criminal too.
