Reno Works A joint workforce development program by VOA & City of Reno

There are no limits to caring. ® Reno Works Two 9-week sessions to address: 1.Temporary employment including safety and work training 2.Employability skills training 3.Long term employment support 4.Wrap-around case management and mentoring to address underlying factors in unemployment and homelessness.

There are no limits to caring. ® Reno Works Pilot program for 20 clients GOAL: Each client will secure employment and housing. Each of the two work crews will include ten shelter clients who will provide a variety of services to the City of Reno with the primary focus on the Truckee River region.

There are no limits to caring. ® Reno Works Information about the program has been posted at all shelters. Clients will be referred to the program by a case manager and will: Reside at a shelter Undergo a formal application and screening process, including a job interview.

There are no limits to caring. ® Reno Works As employees of VOA, the clients will receive: Work safety training Resume and employment assistance Housing referral services VOA employment orientation

There are no limits to caring. ® Reno Works Crew members will: work 3 days/week, 6 hours/day earn $10/hour and will be paid bi-weekly receive training and other services the other 2 days/week

There are no limits to caring. ® Experience VOA successfully operates these similar programs: Crew Based (joint project with City of Oakland) Golden State Works (joint project with CalTrans and Calif. Dept. of Corrections & Rehabilitation) VOA also operates workforce development programs at Mather Community Campus in Sacramento.

There are no limits to caring. ® Results Upon completing the program, crew members will: Receive certification of program completion and a letter of recommendation. Have received training, employment assistance, and housing referral services. The goal is for each crew member to secure employment and housing.
