Checklist to Assess Jobs: Is there positive projected employment growth ( )? How many average annual job openings (new/replacement)? What is the turnover rate? Does this occupation/industry pay a “living” wage? What are the education/training requirements? Postsecondary education, although not necessarily a 4-year degree, is required by many employers. 85% of new jobs require some level of post-secondary education/training, and 65% can be filled with a certificate or Associate’s degree. State of the labor supply: Are there qualified job candidates in the pool of job seekers? Is there a shortage of qualified job candidates in specific occupations?
