LET’S BEGIN GAMES, CAMERA, ACTION!

Team Discussion What TV show over the last year has had a lasting impact on you? What was it about? Favourite moment? Why is it memorable? What genre was it? IMPACT GAMES, CAMERA, ACTION!

Divide and Conquer: Name some ways in which London 2012 has left a ‘Legacy’? GAMES, CAMERA, ACTION! RESEARCH Your TV Show

Discussion point: Rio’s budget is £7.9billion to host the Olympics In contrast, its slums (favela) has 10,000 residents What are the potential positive and negative impacts of the Olympics being hosted in Rio? GAMES, CAMERA, ACTION! RESEARCH Your TV Show Do you know how much was spent on London 2012? (Hint: more than Rio!)

RESPONSIBILITY Olympics and Sustainability What does ‘sustainability’ mean to you? GAMES, CAMERA, ACTION! “Any product, service or initiative that can be created and maintained without damaging the environment.” “Maintaining a healthy way of life without harming the environment.”

1.How is Rio committing to its Olympic Legacy? 2.How is it working to be sustainable? 3.How can it use the Olympics to boost it’s economy long after the Games? GAMES, CAMERA, ACTION! RESEARCH Your TV Show

LIGHTS, CAMERA, ACTION! SUSTAINABILITY How long will your show take to film? Will the making of your show harm animals? People? The environment? If so, how can you avoid or counteract these risks? What positive action can your production company take during filming to affect the environment -Consider travel, food & drink, electricity, waste, make-up etc Making Your Show

LIGHTS, CAMERA, ACTION! SUSTAINABILITY How will you measure the success of your show? i.e. how will you know people enjoyed it? Making Your Show… a success! Social Media? Google searches? Ratings?

LIGHTS, CAMERA, ACTION! SUSTAINABILITY What sort of careers might this TV show inspire in your viewers? Making Your Show… inspiring! Kit designers? Architects? Language experts?

LIGHTS, CAMERA, ACTION! SUSTAINABILITY How can your show help the sustainability of the Olympics in the UK? I.e. to make the impact of the Olympics & Paralympics last more than a few weeks? Making Your Show… go further! Blogs? Social Media footprint? Campaigns/even ts?

What next for your company? Providing your show is a success (of course it will be!) put together a proposal for the following: GAMES, CAMERA, ACTION! EVOLUTION 2017 Post-Olympics follow up show 2020 Tokyo Olympics Show come- back
