PROBE FOR GREATER EMPATHY What new information do you have about needs? TEST YOUR SOLUTION What new information do you have about how your solution addresses the need? HUMAN-CENTERED TESTING

TEST: HOW? let the user experience the prototype: set the scene surrounding your prototype give a short explanation to set context act like a guide (not a lead)

observe the experience: capture what worked, and what didn’t work see how users use and mis-use your prototype listen more than you talk to give users a chance to interpret TEST: HOW?

engage the user: iterate on the fly to communicate learnings ask specific, open-ended questions remember: the user is the expert TEST: HOW?

TESTING: Remember EMPATHY, again! You’re back in learning mode. Watch to understand how users interact with your prototype. Use your empathy questioning technique.

TESTING: Remember Your prototypes are not precious. Be ready to listen, not defend. Answer questions with questions. “What do you think that button does?”
