CHAPTER 16: THE SOUTH AND THE SLAVERY CONTROVERSY Lift-A-Flap Project

ASSIGNMENT:  You will create a Lift-A-Flap Folder that explains Chapter 16: The South and the Slavery Controversy.  IT IS A MAJOR GRADE.  You will have Thursday and Friday to work on the assignment in class.  It is due on Monday, November 9 th. Every day late I will deduct 10 points, no exceptions.

THE COVER MUST INCLUDE:  Title (Chapter 16: The South and the Slavery Controversy)  Your Name  Your Class Period  Some kind of picture (drawn or printed)

THE FLAPS/POCKETS: YOU MUST WRITE AT LEAST 5 SENTENCES EXPLAINING THE MAIN POINTS OF EACH TOPIC. 1.Cotton Boom 2.Aristocracy (Southern White) 3.Economic Division (North and South) 4.White Classes 5.Free Blacks 6. EXTRA CREDIT: You may include up to 5 pictures in your project. Each picture is worth 1 bonus point.  Pictures may be drawn or printed.  The must FIT the text and MAKE SENSE.  You will NOT have the ability to print in class, nor will you be allowed to go to the library.  Simple pictures are fine if they are neat and in color. Teacher discretion will determine whether photo efforts earn the point. You may include a Unit Vocabulary Flap/Section. This section is worth 5 bonus points.  It must be its own section/flap/pocket.  It must include 10 important words from the chapter.  Words must have complete, full definitions/explanations for credit.
