As you read your article, ask yourself—is this a reliable source? (Author, Publisher, Date, Bias…)  3. Make a journal entry for the article you are reading and take notes about your issue using:  Two Column Notes  Cornell Notes  Or a list Note statistics—what do they tell you about the social issue? Why is the author using it?  4. Note the text structure on your article.  5.Conference with Mr. Knight

Group Discussion  Based on what you have read and reviewed the last two days:  What is the issue?  Ex. School start times are a controversial issue because research shows late start times benefit academics, but early start times are better for families and extra-curricular activities.  What are the reasons for/against that you’ve found so far?  For: Improve focus/health  Against: Cost of buses
