Routes to the Professions: E-Mentoring Opportunity The Outreach Office in partnership with MDS is running an exciting new initiative – Routes to the Professions – which aims to improve access of under-represented groups into Medicine.  We are looking for YR 1 & 2 Medical students to provide e- mentoring to YR 12 school pupils who are interested in applying for Medicine  You need to be able to commit to approximately 20 months (Dec 2013 until Aug 2015)  You will be required to complete an application form and attend an interview

E-Mentoring: What will it involve?  You will provide e-mentoring support to approximately 5 students, this will be a combination of information and advice around:  UCAS application – personal statement  Medical interviews  Work placement  Exam results  You will receive e-mentoring training  You will be require to attend a couple of workshops  You will provide student shadowing: Take students to one of your lectures and to lunch (lunch will be paid for both you and the students)

E-Mentoring: Benefits  You will receive £18.66 a month (approx 2 hours a month) for the e-mentoring  You will receive £16.70 for the Student shadowing, plus lunch  You will receive £8.35 per hour for supporting other activities  For further information contact: Shaheen Barkat
