Genesis 1:1-2:3 “The Original Account of Creation”

Genesis 1:1 At the beginning (time) God (force) created (action) the heaven (space) the earth (matter)

Isaiah 45:12 (NASB) "I stretched out the heavens with My hands, And I ordained all their host." Isaiah 34:4 “And all the host of heaven will wear away, And the sky will be rolled up like a scroll…”

“Zero-point energy” “The kinetic energy remaining in a substance at the temperature of absolute zero.”

Matter

Colossians 1:15-17 Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. He existed before anything was created and is supreme over all creation, for through him God created everything in the heavenly realms and on earth. He made the things we can see and the things we can’t see— such as thrones, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities in the unseen world. Everything was created through him and for him. He existed before anything else, and he holds all creation together.

Genesis 1:2 “ The earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was moving over the surface of the waters.”

Proverbs 8:22-31 "The LORD possessed me at the beginning of His way, Before His works of old. From everlasting I was established, from the beginning, from the earliest times of the earth…Then I was beside Him, [as] a master workman…”

“Moving” "to hover, flutter, shake or vibrate"

The “DAYS” of Creation

“The Hebrew word “yom” is used more than 2000 times in the Old Testament. In over 1900 cases (95%) the word is clearly used of a 24- hour day, or of the daylight portion of a normal day. The word "day" appears over 200 times in the Old Testament with numbers (first day, second day, etc.). In every single case, without exception, it refers to a 24-hour day. Each of the six days of the creation week is so qualified.

"There was evening and there was morning, day one.... There was evening and there was morning, day two," etc. The words evening (52 times) and morning (220 times) always refer to normal days where they are used elsewhere in the Old Testament. The Jewish day began in the evening (sunset) and ended with the start of the evening the following day. Thus it is appropriate that the sequence is evening- morning (of a normal day) rather than morning-evening (= start and finish). The literal Hebrew is even more pronounced: "There was evening and there was morning, day one.... There was evening and there was morning, day two," etc.

Exodus 20:11 (NLT) “For in six days the L ORD made the heavens, the earth, the sea, and everything in them; but on the seventh day He rested. That is why the L ORD blessed the Sabbath day and set it apart as holy…” Richard Niessen Institute for Creation Research.

“In the beginning God created…the spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters. Then God said…God called…then God said…then God said…God called…God …God saw…God blessed them…God said...God made…God saw…God said, “let us make human beings in our image, to be like us…God created human beings in His own image… God looked over all he had made, and He saw that it was very good!

Exodus 3:14–15 (NLT) “God replied to Moses, “I A M W HO I A M. Say this to the people of Israel: I A M (YHWH) has sent me to you.” This is my eternal name, my name to remember for all generations.”

Genesis 2:4 (NLT) “This is the account of the creation of the heavens and the earth. When (the) “L ORD God” made the earth and the heavens…”

Genesis 1:3-5 3 Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light. 4 God saw that the light was good; and God separated the light from the darkness. 5 God called the light day, and the darkness He called night. And there was evening and there was morning, one day. DAY 1

John 1:1–5 (NLT) God created everything through him, and nothing was created except through him. “In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. He existed in the beginning with God. God created everything through him, and nothing was created except through him..”

Hebrews 11:3 so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible. “By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.”

Genesis 1:6-8 6 Then God said, “Let there be an expanse in the midst of the waters, and let it separate the waters from the waters.” 7 God made the expanse, and separated the waters which were below the expanse from the waters which were above the expanse; and it was so. 8 God called the expanse heaven. And there was evening and there was morning, a second day. DAY 2

“Energy and Information”

Genesis 1: Then God said, “Let the waters below the heavens be gathered into one place, and let the dry land appear”; and it was so. 10 God called the dry land earth, and the gathering of the waters He called seas; and God saw that it was good. 11 Then God said, “Let the earth sprout vegetation, plants yielding seed,

with seed in them and fruit trees on the earth bearing fruit after their kind with seed in them”; and it was so. 12 The earth brought forth vegetation, plants yielding seed after their kind, and trees bearing fruit with seed in them, after their kind; and God saw that it was good. 13 There was evening and there was morning, a third day. DAY 3

Genesis 1: Then God said, “Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night, and let them be for signs and for seasons and for days and years; 15 and let them be for lights in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth”; and it was so. 16 God made the two great lights, the greater light to govern the day, and the lesser light to govern the night; He made the stars also.

17 God placed them in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth, 18 and to govern the day and the night, and to separate the light from the darkness; and God saw that it was good. 19 There was evening and there was morning, a fourth day. DAY 4

Psalm 147:4 He counts the number of the stars; He gives names to all of them.

Genesis 1: Then God said, “Let the waters teem with swarms of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth in the open expanse of the heavens.” 21 God created the great sea monsters and every living creature that moves, with which the waters swarmed after their kind, and every winged bird after its kind; and God saw that it was good.

22 God blessed them, saying, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let birds multiply on the earth.” 23 There was evening and there was morning, a fifth day. DAY 5

Genesis 1: Then God said, “Let the earth bring forth living creatures after their kind: cattle and creeping things and beasts of the earth after their kind”; and it was so. 25 God made the beasts of the earth after their kind, and the cattle after their kind, and everything that creeps on the ground after its kind; and God saw that it was good.

26 Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; and let them rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” 27 God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.

Male & Female

Genesis 1: God blessed them; and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it; and rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”

Romans 1:25 (NLT) They traded the truth about God for a lie. So they worshiped and served the things God created instead of the Creator himself, who is worthy of eternal praise! Amen.

Genesis 1: Then God said, “Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the surface of all the earth, and every tree which has fruit yielding seed; it shall be food for you; 30 and to every beast of the earth and to every bird of the sky and to every thing that moves on the earth which has life, I have given every green plant for food”; and it was so.

31 God saw all that He had made, and behold, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day. DAY 6

Genesis 2:1-3 1 Thus the heavens and the earth were completed, and all their hosts. 2 By the seventh day God completed His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done. 1 Thus the heavens and the earth were completed, and all their hosts. 2 By the seventh day God completed His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done. 3 Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made.

“The heavens and the earth were completed”

Westminster Confession of faith “Creation” “It pleased God the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, for the manifestation of the glory of His eternal power, wisdom, and goodness, in the beginning, to create, or make of nothing, the world, and all things therein whether visible or invisible, in the space of six days; and all very good.”
