Building on our Experience Involvement with Energy Best Deal and Energy Best Deal Extra for several years Energy and financial issues are the Golden Thread through all of our work. Development of a Home Energy Assessment Tool Green Deal Communities Project in Nuneaton, Bedworth and North Warwickshire

Home Energy Assessment Tool Better deals on Energy Checks for additional support: – Priority Service Registers – Energy efficiency measures Green Deal and ECO Decent Homes Scheme Energy complaints Includes other utilities especially Water – The Big Difference Scheme

Rural Fuel Poverty Electricity only homes e.g. Kineton and Lighthorne Heath and Middleton Higher number of older, less energy efficient properties Reliance on oil and LPG for heating etc. Digital exclusion Difficulties associated with Prepayment Meters

Prepayment Meters (PPMs) Warwickshire Financial Inclusion Project 2010 triggered research “Left Out in the Cold” Link between PPMs and debt? Often inherited in rented accommodation Lack of understanding in meter management Lack of tariff choice and higher tariff cost Self disconnection – ‘heat or eat?’

Fair Play for Prepay National campaign launched Video on You Tube A better price Choice of ways to top-up Meters easier to use and understand Introduction of SMART meters

What next for PPM users in Warwickshire? 10.5% of Warwickshire households have PPMs Equates to 24,691 Warwickshire households We will raise awareness with support services and households about options for PPM users
