Strategy for ECM 2 on Sitecore.net Crawl: learn how to use new interface Walk: learn how to use new functionality Run: learn how to use automation Fly: be creative; be careful not to fall
Plan for Session 1 - Crawling How to learn using new interface and do what we used to do Changes in the Content Tree and concept of the Recipient List Create new message Create subscription template Reuse old messages
Your typical steps in new interface Creating a message Building a Recipient List Populate Marketing Opt-In List in CRM Reviewing a message Testing a message ECM testing Dispatching to your seed list Dispatching a message Reviewing reports
Today’s training scenarios 1.Create a new One Time Message Use existing seed list Send Test message Dispatch Duplicate dispatched message Remove the Recipient List Build a new Recipient List Update the Opt-In and Opt-out roles Update Opt-in Marketing list in CRM
Creating a new message Naming convention for name: Start with your Region ISO code Use Asset codes for better identification Example: US WB CX Maturity Model Partner
ECM 2 New Message Type One Time Message Every time new recipients list Subscription Message intended to be dispatched regularly to a specific recipient list lets you skip the Recipients step “From” address will be preset Triggered Message Sent to a single person at a time, when triggered by a specific event Example: a message to user registered for a website, or to a user who visited the website once but has not returned for three weeks. Do not have a fixed or defined number of recipients, since the module knows the recipient only when an events or a condition is triggered by that recipient. 6:45

Send to whom? Create a Recipient List
ECM 2 Recipient Lists = ECM Target Audiences In ECM 1.x you had to create and define a target audience before creating an message In ECM 2.x you can create a message first and then build a recipient list for it or choose an existing list. This gives you increased flexibility for creating your campaigns Newly created Recipients Lists are not in the regional folders but by year/day/time Marketer needs to remember/lookup names of the lists to reuse them through search or find them in backend 6:50
New Structure Old Structure Target Audience became Recipient List Standard Messages became Service Messages New Messages after upgrade
Recipients Build a List A recipient is an individual with an associated address that receives messages ECM stores recipients in recipient lists On sitecore.net recipient lists are CRM Marketing Lists You can create an empty CRM Marketing Lists from ECM – Opt-in and Opt-Out You populate members to the Marketing list in CRM Clean up empty CRM Marketing lists if you not going to use them
ECM 2 – Build Recipient List You define a Recipient List in ECM which will create a pair of Marketing Lists in CRM: opt-in role opt-out role
Recipient Lists Building a New Recipient List Viewing a Recipient List Building an Opted Out List Viewing an Opted Out List
Reviewing a Message When you prepared a message, you can review it using the following options: Send a quick test Preview a message in different clients Perform a spam check
Testing a message Send a quick test to yourself External links will not work Unsubscribe link will not work Dispatch to a small list of s – send list Check all links Check unsubscribe links
ECM 2 - Dispatch
Prepare for dispatching to the real list Duplicate the message Remove the Recipient list Build new Recipient list Update Opt-in and Opt-out lists Dispatch
Demo Create One Time message 7:00
Subscription Message Intended to be dispatched regularly to a specific recipient list Lets you skip the Recipients step Fields will be preset 7;20
Subscription Message You can modify the recipient list for a specific subscription message before dispatching if you want This will not affect other subscription messages that are based on the same template. You can save messages as subscription messages using the Save as Subscription Message action The Save as a Subscription Template operation changes the type of the original message, it does not copy the message. If you want to keep the original message intact, you may want to duplicate it before saving it as a subscription message. You can save as a Subscription Message Template 6:45
Subscription Message If you want to make a Subscription Template Duplicate message Save it as a Subscription Template Start creating from the Subscription Template 7:00
