Advent- preparation for Christmas (on December 1-24). One of the main traditions of preparatory weeks - wreaths 5 candles - four red and one white. The tradition came with candles. Such wreaths do by first Sunday, and consist of from Catholicism and is widespread in all Europe. Every Sunday the new red candle is lit. They are lit when the family gathers behind a prayer. White candle light at evening before Christmas as a symbol of that the Christ will come to the world and will shine darkness.

Christmas - Christmas (on December 24-25). Inhabitants of England and Wales consider Christmas as more important holiday, than New year while Scots celebrate it quite seriously and sadly, keeping all festive heat for New Year's evening. For Christmas evening, as a rule, all family on December 25 gathers. The Christmas dinner includes such traditional dishes as the stuffed turkey at British or a fried goose in Wales and Ireland. And also an indispensable plum-pudding - very dense pie with the dried fruits, steamed. Before giving on a table it has a shower bath cognac and is set fire. British open gifts in the morning on December 25, it is obligatory in the presence of all family.

Boxing Day - Day of a gift (on December 26). The second day of Christmas in a church calendar is devoted to sacred Stephane.
