Point: The first task is to be an expert in checkouts Explanation: which involves using a computerised till that has a barcode scanner, so that goods can be scanned. Fruit and vegetables will need to be weighed and priced. You may have to remove security tags from some items and check age restrictions on alcohol. It may mean you have to wrap products like flowers and process the Tesco loyalty card. Finally they take payment; give change and make sure their till balances at the end of the day. Effect: It is important for checkout operators to work quickly and efficiently so that other customers in the queue do not have to wait too long. If customers are served quickly they will leave the store happy and are likely to return again in the future, remaining loyal. This is crucial at a time when competition between supermarkets is so fierce. You cannot copy this, but can use it a guide for each of the tasks you have decided to write about.
