Journal Entries Spring Semester 2012

Journal Entry #1 – 1/12 Think about the activities we did last week. What did you learn and/or observe about: –This class –Yourself Discuss the importance of communication to: –This class –Your personal wellness What does it mean to be a good communicator?

Journal Entry #2 – 1/14 Discuss the decisions you’ve made in the past week or so.  Were they healthy? Unhealthy? Why?  What areas of your health and/or wellness did these decisions pertain to?  Have your decisions impacted others? Positively, negatively, how, etc.

Journal Entry #3 – 1/20 Review: HEALTH, WELLNESS, QUALITY OF LIFE, WELLNESS WHEEL and RISK FACTORS Define the above terms. Discuss how each are related to YOUR life right now. Discuss the components of the Wellness Wheel, things involved with each piece, and the concept of the Wellness Wheel. How can one event/thing impact multiple areas of the Wellness Wheel (give and explain an example)? What’s up with YOUR Wellness Wheel these days?

Journal Entry #4 – 1/26 Mental Health (Answer/do all 4 questions) 1.List as many characteristics as you can think of that describe a person with good mental health (~10+). 2.Go back through your list, and circle those that apply to you. 3.Star one that you didn’t circle (doesn’t apply to you), that you would like to develop. 4.Write about what you could do to strengthen that particular trait. If you didn’t star one, discuss the state of your mental health overall, and why you think no improvements need to be made.

Journal Entry #5: 1/28 Free write…. as long as you make some connection to an area of your personal HEALTH or to your personal WELLNESS.

Journal Entry #6 – 2/2 Topic: Stress Management Define “stress.” Discuss the role that stress has played in your life within the past few days. How does your body reacts to stress? What are your stress relievers? Are they healthy? Why or why not?

Journal Entry #7: 2/4 Decision Making (review/reflection) 1.Describe a situation where you had a difficult time making up your mind about something. How did you finally make your decision? What were the influences on your final decision? 2.Define “early decision?” Discuss an early decision that you have already made. Why have you made this decision? Does this pertain to peer pressure? Why/Why not?

Journal Entry #8 – 2/9 Who is the person in your life who is the overall healthiest (aka the “most well”)? Explain.
