 About one-third of South Koreans are now Christian, and largest Christian non-western country.  Two of its largest branches 1) Protestantism Has been a dynamic force in Korean life, and had a positive impact on other religions. 2) Catholicism a) it was first introduced during the late Joseon Dynasty. b)Catholic Church became the first Korean organization to officially adopt Hangul as its primary script, and they teach all the Christian children read and write it.  By the challenge with the Confucian principle, many Korean Christians hold the belief that every one is equal, no matter you are women or children.

 The family is the most important part of Korean life.  Most of the Koreans still prefer son to daughter because they think the family lineage is important.  With the Confucian tradition, the father is the head of the family and it is his responsibility to earn the money for the family to buy food, clothes, etc.  Family welfare are much more important than the needs of the individual.  Members of the family are tied to each other because the actions of one family member reflect on the rest of the family.  The younger people need to show their respects to the older relatives.
