 These are rigorous exams used to determine if a student is college ready, and students are provided with feedback and resources to fully prepare and receive high scores for college acceptance.  PSAT stands for Preliminary SAT, and the scores are good indicators as to how a student will perform on the actual SAT.  ACT is a different exam that tests more content areas but is also rigorous.

In addition to the Foundation Plan, students must add one of the 5 Endorsements to receive Texas Public High School Diploma, completing 26 credits. This includes an additional math, science, and 2 electives.

 Students will complete ONE of the following math course series:  Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, and an approved 4th year math class  Algebra 1 (8 th ), Geometry, Algebra 2, Pre-Calculus or College Algebra, AP Calculus or AP Statistics  Algebra 1, Math Models, Geometry, or Algebra 2

Students will complete ONE of the following science course series:  Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and a fourth approved science class  Biology, IPC, Chemistry, Physics  IPC, Biology, Chemistry, Physics

 Students will complete the following Social Studies course series:  World Geography  U.S History  World History  Government (.5)  Economics (.5)

 English 1  English 2  English 3  English 4

 Beginning in the school year, students and parents will be required to sign a contract when enrolled in the Advanced Placement classes. Due to the rigor, discipline, and responsibility involved in order to be successful in these courses, it is imperative for families to have a full understanding beforehand in order to be fully prepared. The contracts will be available in the AP teachers’ classes in the fall of 2016.

 Due to the changes in graduation laws for the class of 2018 and beyond, students will be using the four-year plan as their registration form so that the series of courses can be followed each year until the student graduates.

 Students select courses from the curriculum of each of the above named Endorsements and earns credit in a variety of advanced courses for multiple content areas sufficient to complete the Distinguished Level of Achievement (DLA).

 Ensure your endorsement matches your career plan.  List all of your current courses you are taking this year, both the fall and spring semesters.  Following the course sequences for your Graduation Endorsement, choose your core and elective classes for next year.

 If you have failed a course from the last school year ( ), please do not place credit recovery on your schedule in lieu of electives. Counselors will schedule you into credit recovery programs such as Star Lab, Summer School, and CBE.  If you failed course 1 st semester of this year, you have an opportunity to average the credit with a high enough grade this semester. (example English 2A=65)
