Device and Application Engineering Design 6

Overview EZ-Park Device Displays validity of parking spot Facilitates payment for parking Main Components of Device: Microcontroller GPS / Bluetooth Connectivity LED Display

Hardware Diagram

Problem Statements For Drivers: Paying for parking through parking meters and Muni-Meters can be tedious Parking rules can be confusing For Parking Enforcement Officers: Regulating is not always precise and efficient

Background Material Parking Regulations Alternate Side Parking Street Cleaning No Standing & Stopping Handicapped Tow Away Zone Wireless Technology Protocols: GPS Bluetooth

Objectives of Users Locate a vacant parking spot. Be informed of the parking rules regarding that spot (hours, price). Pay for the parking spot from the comfort of their vehicle. Make parking easier and more convenient!

Functions of the Design Use of GPS technology to locate a vacant parking spot, while also informing the driver if that spot has been taken. Use of a live database to inform the driver of the parking regulations and costs of that area. Payment for the spot using a pre-debited account or through the use of a smart phone application. Solar charging of the battery ensures the device will not shut off while being used. Clear LED display of the driver’s current parking status (valid/invalid/handicap)
