There was a time not so very long ago when television media and news companies decided what videos people watched – and what videos they didn’t. Ten years ago, the only way to watch television was, well, by turning on the television! When YouTube was founded in 2005, it quickly revolutionized the way we access entertainment. No longer were people dependent on television shows like Good Morning America and Entertainment Tonight to choose and deliver entertainment. Instead, for the first time ever, people were able to access the news and entertainment that they wanted when they wanted it. Instead of discussing the latest box office hits, people may discuss the latest viral videos and YouTube sensations shared by word of mouth and social media. Furthermore, a growing number of celebrities have become popular only after gaining popularity on YouTube, including Justin Bieber and Fred.
