FORMS TO COMPLETE Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) Completed online at Based upon 2012 income. Must reapply each year. After you submit your FAFSA you should receive Student Aid Report (SAR). You should review your SAR for accuracy

Each file selected is reviewed individually and can increase processing time.  Required documents may include:  BCTC Verification Worksheet  2012 Tax Return Transcript from IRS  2012 W-2 Forms  Proof of SNAP Benefits  Official High School Transcript / GED Scores  Notarized Educational Purpose Statement  Other documentation may be required Federal and/or State Tax Returns are not acceptable VERIFICATION

If there has been a significant change in student, spouse, or parent 2013 income, you may be eligible for a recalculation. Forms will be available after September 15. Must come to the Financial Aid Office to receive the form. RECALCULATION

 Awarded annually to KY High School students with a GPA of 2.50 or higher.  Award amounts range from $ $  Bonus Award for ACT scores 15 or higher. (Highest score prior to graduation.)  Award amounts range from $ $  5 years from high school graduation to use the scholarship.  Student must be on track to graduate.  College GPA requirement  2.5 first year  3.0 second year  2.5 – 2.9 award cut in half.  BCTC will notify KHEAA after the last day to register.  KHEAA will send funds electronically to BCTC.  Money will be credited to your account in Student Billing.  Review KEES Letter  Date of birth  Social Security Number  For questions contact  High School Counselor  KHEAA at or KEES SCHOLARSHIP

AWARD NOTICE  You will receive in your KCTCS a Financial Aid Award Acknowledgement Letter  Accept or Reject aid that has been offered.  Complete online using your PeopleSoft ID and password  Complete the Financial Aid Release Form.  Bookstore Release  Title IV Release  Family Education Right to Privacy Act Release  Must return your Financial Aid Release Form to the Financial Aid Office.

Entrance Counseling and signing a Master Promissory Note (MPN). Both of these are completed online at  You will need a D.O.E. PIN. To request a PIN visit :  You will need two (2) references of different address.  The process will take 30 – 45 minutes to complete.  Loans come in two disbursements.  Half in the Fall semester  Half in the Spring semester  Freshmen, who are first time borrowers, will have a one time 30 day delay on their first disbursement.. RECEIVING LOAN FUNDS

Can borrow less than award amount. Borrow based on what you really NEED…not WANT! Have 14 days to cancel loan after it has been disbursed. MUST BE REPAID!!!. Always Borrow Conservatively RECEIVING LOAN FUNDS

Need vs. Want Need to pay tuition Want an iPad WORK is not a bad 4 letter word. You can work and go to college. Work: earn $14,400 over 3 years ( working 20 hours/week, pay rate of $8.00/hour 30 weeks per academic year.) Loan: borrow $14,400 over 3 years repay $25, monthly payment of up to $230 for 15 years. If you are currently meeting your financial obligations, don’t borrow money.

Funds are not disbursed to your account in Student Billing until approximately 3-4 weeks after the semesters starts. The Disbursement Date represent the earliest date funds can be applied to your account in Student Billing. AID DISBURSEMENT

 Students are able to charge their books at the Cooper and Leestown Bookstores. Or online at  Awarded enough Financial Aid to cover the bill plus the cost of the books.  Financial Aid Office must have a Financial Aid Release (FAR) form on file for you.  sent to your KCTCS address.. BOOKSTORE CHARGES

Payment Extensions  Will extend your tuition payment beyond the tuition due date.  Automatically given if you have accepted your award package.  And you have enough aid to cover your semester costs.. Refunds  Amount remaining after your bill has been paid.  Used to cover living expenses.  Refunds are disbursed to your Higher One card through Student Billing.  Funds are generally refunded once a week. Notice to students who enroll with a program plan of UNDECIDED or PENDING: If you have not declared a Financial Aid approved major or program plan, AND you have attempted 30 or more credit hours, you cannot receive Federal Financial Aid. Remember to choose your major or program plan before you attempt 30 credit hours!. UNDECIDED AND PENDING STUDENTS

In order to continue receiving financial aid students must meet the following requirements: 1.Maintain a 2.0 GPA 2.Complete 67% of the classes attempted 3.Complete their degree program within a specified timeframe 90 credit hours Associates 72 credit hours Diploma 45 credit hour Certificate. Students who are found to not be meeting SAP will be unable to receive Financial Aid. Students with extenuating circumstances can appeal. Appeals Process Must be in writing Must show how the situation has changed Must provide documentation Submit to the Financial Aid Office. SATISFACTORY ACADEMIC PROGRESS

 Students receiving Federal Financial Aid Funds are expected to successfully complete their classes.  Student who completely withdraw from a semester or are unsuccessful in all of their classes, could be required to repay a portion of the aid they received.  No appeal option. RETURN TO TITLE IV

Financial Aid information will be sent to your KCTCS and PeopleSoft account You must... Activate your KCTCS account. Keep your account clean. If your account is full no new financial aid information will be received. Activate your PeopleSoft account. Check your “TO DO LIST”. This shows any missing Financial Aid documents. GO GREEN
