SYNOPSIS The story us about actions required to stop school girls pregnancies. My article was a good practice because: - It initiated actions against men that pregnated school girls (Mtwara region) - It supports the government and other stakeholders effort for reducing poverty and enhances participation of women in development process.

BACKGROUND 50/50 BY 2015: DEMANDING A STRONG POST 2015 AGENDA Thirty percent of Tanzanian children enrolled in school fail to complete seven years of primary education. The drop-out is due to higher rate of pregnancy in most of the village area schools such as the southern region of Mtwara where at least 400 school-girls became pregnant in Early pregnancies have forced over 70 per cent of girls out of secondary schools in Newala district, Mtwara region in Early marriages and school girl pregnancies are among issues that deter the Tanzania policy for universal education and poverty reduction.

TARGET AUDIENCE The impact it had: - Special hospital ward has been established for the young mothers. - Now the action is taken by parents by opening up court cases and some culprits have been convicted up to 30 years in prison. -Officials joining hand in fighting the problem e.g. Newala District Commissioner, urge community to stop the practice and promise to support legal actions.
