BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA MINISTRY OF DEFENSE National Defence Objectives: Achieve democratic, civilian control of the military, with parliamentary oversight. Achieve transparency of defence activities, to include defence planning and budgeting. Define and implement an affordable and sustainable force structure in acordance with security challenges and legitimite defence objectives, Enhance bilateral and multilateral defence cooperation programmes, Actively contribute to international efforts of building and enhancing world peace and stability,to support BiH Foreign Policy objectives Short term goal: membership in PfP, Long term goal: membership in NATO

BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA MINISTRY OF DEFENSE Activities in Support of National Defence Objectives: Implement of Defense Reform Policies, Structure and Procedures, Develop Unique PfP/NATO Military “Niche” Capability, Achieve PfP/NATO Standardization and Interoperability, Enhance Bi-lateral and Multi-lateral Defense Cooperation, Achieve BiH Integration into Euro-Atlantic Collective Security Structures

BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA MINISTRY OF DEFENSE CAVEAT: BiH currently is engaged in a far-reaching process of fundamental defense reform with extensive assistance from the International Community. Simultaneously, the Armed Forces of BiH are being transformed into a fully NATO-compatible military force. As these processes are on-going, our requirements for additional assistance from the International Community are constantly being refined. Therefore, many of the requirements stated in this briefing will require further elaboration and new requirements are certain to develop.
