Academics Affiliate Programs Complete all required steps in WakeAbroad folder –Login to your file at –Follow and complete the steps as outlined in your file Return all Course Approval Forms to the Center for International Studies Notify your study abroad advisor if you change courses while abroad Must earn a “C” or better to receive transfer credit ALL Wake Forest bulletin rules apply while you are abroad –Honor Code, pass/fail, full-time status, etc.

Logistics Passports Protect your passport –Make multiple copies of your passport photo/signature page and keep them separate from your passport –Conceal your passport in a travel holder or security belt DO NOT pack your passport in your checked luggage –Carry your passport when traveling abroad; you will need it to clear customs or check into a hotel

Logistics Visas Required document for entry into foreign countries –Some countries require a visa for entry –Process and timeline –State Department website: –CIS is available as a resource, but issuance is controlled by foreign governments Check with your program to see if you are required to apply for a visa –It is your individual responsibility to apply for a visa –Follow your program’s instructions for obtaining your student visa –Ask questions if you are unsure of the process

Logistics Money Matters Financial Aid & Scholarships –Awards can be used for your abroad semester –Contact Janice Claybrook in the Financial Aid office if you have specific questions Financial Services Student Refund Request Form –If you receive a scholarship/financial aid you must complete this form to receive your award –You will need to make all payments directly to your program –The form is found in your WakeAbroad on-line file Handling your Money –Do not arrive without any local money; change money at the airport before you arrive at your destination –Know the fees your bank will charge –Notify your credit card company before traveling –Make a budget

Health & Safety You are primarily responsible for your own health and safety: Take charge of your own preparations. Situational awareness: be aware of your surroundings –Watch others, pay attention, learn the emergency plan, be aware of pick-pockets Medications: take what you need, plan ahead –Take prescriptions for the full semester –Keep all medicines in labeled containers Vaccinations: plan ahead (travel clinic in Student Health Services) Be prepared: establish good habits to protect yourself and safeguard your valuables and environment
