Visual Hook and Reflection Activity ELA 10-2: Identity: An Ongoing Journey to Find One’s Own Story

Instructions: Objective: to silently view the images and try to see the story within. 1.View the image without saying anything. Don’t speak at all. There will be a time to discuss what you see after each image. 2.In your duotang, answer the question located at the bottom of the image with as much detail as possible. Each response should be at least 2-3 sentences.

Describe, in at least 3 sentences, what you see.

Activity #2: Silently view the following image on the next slide. On a line sheet of loose-leaf, write a 5-6 sentence paragraph describing what you see, what you think/feel and how the image relates to you personally. Summative Evaluation: The paragraph will be handed in for marks. It is a building assignment to help prepare for you upcoming visual reflection essay. Activity #3: After having completed your paragraph, your brain is now warmed up and ready to dig a little deeper into a second, brief visual reflection assignment Write a 1 page story (single-spaced, size 12 Arial font) that is based on one of the following images on the next couple of slides. The goal is to be as creative as possible. Step One: Choose an image to write on. This image will be the inspiration of your story. Step Two: Type a story, in paragraph form, that contains at least one main character who has to struggle through some sort of conflict/problem that is based on the image you choose. Step Three: Follow the format on the next slide when writing the story.
