The topic that I chose to research is John Lennon, a member of the Beatles. John Lennon is a music legend who changed modern music and influenced many important rock and popular musicians and singers. His songs are still played and sung today. I want to find out how Lennon developed his musical style, what were his influences and why he is still popular and admired today. I also want to find out about his personal life. I chose this topic because I visited the Strawberry Fields park in New York which was planted in memory of Lennon. That’s how I heard about him.

Show if your research proved your point What did you understand / learn / what opinion do you now have on the topic? John Lennon was one of the most influential musicians in from 1960’s until today. He wrote music and lyrics that changed popular music. Songs like Yesterday, Imagine and Give Peace a Chance are still sung today by other singers. Lennon was a social and political activist and he often used his music to express his views. Lennon was a music legend because popular and rock music has never been the same since he and the Beatles began. His personal life also set a trend – from long hairstyles for men and using drugs to adopting Eastern (Indian) lifestyles like meditation. After researching Lennon, I understand how the music I listen to today exists thanks to him.
