How to Choose Courses… Career goals Personal interest Douglas College program University transferable

Career Goals… Some careers require specific courses, or degrees to be qualified for employment, some are simply looking for a general credential Good places to find out job requirements and Career counselling is also available at Douglas College 

Personal Interest… Most programs have elective or breadth requirements for completion of a credential. These courses should be selected based on personal interest, but chosen from a list determined by the University or specific program. Course listing is in the College Calendar

Douglas College program Program information is available online at the College Calendar: Program course lists are found by selecting the course and scrolling down

University Transferable… In you plan to transfer to University to continue your education (usually from a Diploma/Associates Degree  Bachelors Degree) then you need to be selecting the appropriate courses You should be selecting your courses as if you were currently at the University getting ready for your first semester

Using the University Calendar You should be using the University’s calendar that you plan on transferring to, and looking for your Major program, Lower Division requirements = first and second year required courses. SFU - UBC -

So, if you are planning to complete an English Major at SFU within a Bachelors of Arts, the required courses needed in the first and second years of study are found online. How do we find elective courses that are transferable into your intended program? How do we find the equivalent courses at the college?

The transfer guide works in two ways Sending (College)  Receiving (University) for determining electives choices

…using the transfer guide And Receiving  Sending for specific program requirements Use the University course name and number in the guide

Course Scheduling All done online You have control over your schedule Schedule your courses around practices and games and work Secure site  Login: services.html services.html Class search: d.p_search_fields d.p_search_fields
