Operations Management From theory to practise Topic: Supply Chain Management

Content

Objective of the task The purpose of this task is to actively engage students in the develop the practical aspect of operations The students will be comparing the theory with practical application of various aspects of operations in manufacturing/services sector. The students will be asked to play the role of the consultant (consultants) The purpose of the engagement is to analyse supply chain and identify the way in which they can improve its operations

Methodology used Introducing guest lecturers from business community, Two gest lecturers from two businesses 3o min presentation from each business representative A visit to the same business by student to relate the visiting lecture with the practical application, The students will visit both businesses The visit will be executed in two days (one day per institution) Provide an in-depth analysis of the topic in question and if a potential for improvement was identified to recommend it to the interviewed business

Preparation before the task The students would need to know well the aspect of Supply Chain Management will have to do further reading about the companies that will be visited some market research about similar type of businesses/products offered in Kosovo market. The students will know ahead of time about the stakeholders visit to university. The students will be given the assignment instructions along with the evaluation matrix

Assessment This task is part (25%) of the final mark of the module The evaluation of this task will be done in two forms: 1.Group completion of work sheets (5% marks) for each company visited (based on individual observation, interviews with managers and group discussion) This will involve producing and handing-in one week after the field visit all of your group worksheets marked The worksheets be and returned to students with feedback within one-week of their submission 2.Group presentation (no more than four member in a group) will consist of a presentation (20% mark), prepared and presented by all members in the group. All group members need to be prepared for probing questions by the lecturers These will be asked not just to test your understanding of the case topics but also to assess your ability to integrate theory and practice All group members should contributed equally to the presentation
