Development of legal and policy framework Law on Environmental Protection of B&H - draft According with entities set of environmental laws - drafting of secondary legislation in both entities (approx. 50 regulations) Setting up Agency for Environmental Protection of B&H Institutional Strengthening of Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Economic Relations (established Department for Management of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection) Setting up Fond for Environmental Protection in both entities (to the end of year) Implementation Mid-Term Development Strategy of B&H/PRSP - Poverty Reduction Strategy Paper in Bosnia and Herzegovina (adopted February 5, 2004 by Council of Ministers of B&H)

Civil Society/Public Involvement in Policy Making and Implementation Public hearing - according to Provisions of Law on Environmental Protection and Regulation of issuing of environmental permits, public hearing is obligated part of procedure of permit issues which performs by Ministries (ongoing 23 projects in the FB&H and 10 in RS) Establishment three National Parks in Federation B&H ( “River Una”; “Igman, Bjelasnica, Treskavica and River Rakitnica” and “Prenj,Čabulja and Čvrsnica”) – public debate (NGOs; Local Communities, )

Achievements in reducing environmental pollution Activities of Ozone Unit of B&H – National Program for Substitution of Substances that deplete Ozone Layer prepared with support of Multilateral Fund for implementation of Montreal Protocol and UNIDO 2001 (BIRA; SOKO; INGA; etc.) Disposal and export of hazardous waste from B&H concerning to the Basel Convention on the Transboundary Movement of Hazardous Waste and its Disposal “Solid Waste Management Project” – W B Credit –7 Regional Sanitary Landfill - Rehabilitation of existing inadequate disposal sites –Wild Dump Closures –Collection Infrastructure and Support Equipment –Transfer Stations Factory of cement Kakanj –the dedusting system was the biggest project - approx. 10 mil EUR –improvement of water treatment
