RB, p  Read the text and find out the meaning of the following years significant for the enlargement of the EU.  1951 –the ECSC was set up  1954 – the EDC was rejected by the French  1956 – the Suez crisis  1957 – the six leaders signed the Treaty of Rome and established the EEC  1973 – the UK, Denmark and Ireland joined the EEC  1980 – the completion of the single European market  1993 – The EEC became the EU after the Maastricht Treaty was signed  2004 – “Big Bang” – ten new countries joind the EU (Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Hungary, The CzechRepublic, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Cyprus and Malta  2007 – Rumania and Bulgaria joined the EU, the celebration of its 50th anniversary  2013 – Croatia joined the EU
