4 Before You Begin Check the PC that you are going to use as the ALSMS Server and make sure that any PC firewalls, Anti Virus software or Spy ware programs are turned off. Set the IP address and Mask on the PC that you plan to use as the ALSMS server IP. You can change this later through the ALSMS Change IP Tool, but it is simpler to set your IP address now. Turn off any Web Servers that are running on the PC. Install Adobe Acrobat Reader if it isn’t already installed. There is a copy on the ALSMS CD.

5 Physical Connections to the Brick Check your IP address to make sure it is what you set it to. If you see a 169… address you will need to plug in your Ethernet adaptor to see the address that you typed in. Once this is done you are ready to install the ALSMS software.

6 Obtaining Installation Keys There are two types of keys associated with the ALSMS Software. There is a “Software License key” and an “Installation key”. You received the software license key with your software. You will find it on the CD Rom case that the software came in. You will use this key to register the product and to obtain the “installation key”, which is required to perform the installation. The next few slides will walk you through the registration process. Please have your software license key ready as well as your contact information, company information and product information including serial numbers of your Bricks. Open your web browser and go to

7 Obtaining Installation Keys If you are already a registered user fill in your user name and password to login. If you have forgotten your password click on “Forgot Password” If you are a new user to this site click on “New Users Register Here” near the bottom. These slides will show the process for a new user. Registered users will do the same but will be able to skip a few steps. If you are an existing user doing an upgrade to your ALSMS see the configuration example titled “ALSMS Upgrade Configuration Example”

8 Obtaining Installation Keys Type in your license key and click “Continue” Fill in your contact information on the following page and click “Continue”. Fill in your Brick models and serial numbers as well as the purchase information and click “Continue”. (see example on next slide)

9 Obtaining Installation Keys Enter a username and password for this account. Keep track of this information. Then click “Continue”.

10 Obtaining Installation Keys Verify all of the information that you have entered and click “Submit”. The next page will give you your “Installation Key”. It’s good to put this in a safe place. Though, you can always go back to this site, login and review the information. If you have more keys to register click on “Registered Customers Login” and register those now.

11 Installing ALSMS Installation of ALSMS is detailed in the ALSMS installation guide. Make sure you set up a static IP address on the ALSMS server machine prior to installation as recommended on slide 4. It is also advisable to connect the NIC card to the Brick prior to installation so that the NIC is activated, as discussed on slide 6. For the installation of ALSMS put the CD in the drive and follow the directions on the screen.

12 Installing the ALSMS Set your Admin ID. Make it something that you will remember. Set your Password. This ID and Password is your first ALSMS Administrator ID. You can add more later, you can also delete or change this one later The ALSMS will not allow you to delete “all” of the Administrator logins. You must have at least one.

13 The Default selections are usually fine, but of course you have the option to change them. Once you have completed the installation go to Start>All Programs>Lucent Security Management Server>ALSMS Navigator Congratulations you have successfully installed the ALSMS Software and are ready to start securing your network.
