1. Movement is attained due to a muscle moving an attached bone 2. Muscles are attached to least two points: an origin and an insertion.

Results of Exercise (muscle use): 1. Increase in muscle size 2. Increase in muscle strength 3. Increase in muscle efficiency 4. Increase in overall muscle endurance

1. Prime mover – muscle with the major responsibility for a certain movement 2. Antagonist – muscle that opposes or reverses a prime mover 3. Synergist – muscle that aids a prime mover in a movement and helps prevent rotation

1. Named according to direction of muscle fibers: rectus means straight 2. Named according to size: maximus means largest 3. Named according to location: sub means below, supra means above 4. Named according to the number of origins: triceps means 3 heads 5. Named according to its origin and insertion: sternocleidomastoid 6. Named according to its shape: deltiod means triangular 7. Named according to their action: flexor and extensor means it flexes or extends the bone
