PIM Technical Training, December 2011 Brian Whitcomb 12/20/2011 Call-in Number = Pass code =

Agenda What is the PIM ? How do I configure and install? Testing pointers for the PIM Notes to Remember

What is the PIM ? IP Ethernet controller of up to 16 AD400/AD-Series Wireless Easy, IP, interface to OEM Access Software PoE power A Mercury EP1501 and PIM RSI Old solution

What is the PIM ? IP Ethernet controller of up to 16 AD400/Wireless Easy, IP, interface to OEM Access Software PoE power A Mercury EP1501 and PIM RSI New solution

What is the PIM ? IP Ethernet controller of up to 16 AD400/Wireless Easy, IP, interface to OEM Access Software PoE power A Mercury EP1501 and PIM RSI New solution

What is the PIM ? IP Ethernet controller of up to 16 AD400/Wireless Easy, IP, interface to OEM Access Software PoE power A Mercury EP1501 and PIM RSI New solution

What is the PIM ?

EP1501 from Mercury is a Controller Network Intelligence – IP/LAN Ethernet input, Access Control Server – Loss of IP/Server EP1501 still controls access – 240,000 Cards – 50,000 Audit events, 16 locks – PoE (Power over Ethernet) Class 3

What is the PIM ?

PIM RSI

What is the PIM ? EP1501

What is the PIM ? Wiring – from the factory Input Ethernet (IP) PoE or 12 volt external USB input for SUS maintenance Open lid – Mounting – Coupling

What is the PIM ? Lid Label PIM PWR (not Tamper) -RX-TX -LINK1 & LINK2 EP1501 -PoE Jumper -DIP Switch -LEDs -RESET -LAN YEL/GRN

Who are the PIM Partners? Third Party OEM Access Software firms, now using Mercury! Completed Integration of the PIM – Open Options - TS – RS2 - Dealers – BadgePass - Dealers – IDenticard Systems Potential next OEM to adapt the PIM – Lenel – Honeywell – MAXXES – And others

Any Questions on What? Next How do I configure and install?

Power Factory Default – Pre-configure with PC – OEM Pages RF Location LAN Drop Assigning Hardware

How do I configure and install? Power PoE or 12 volt external PoE Power in through the Ethernet LAN cable PoE – PoE/12V Jumper default is PoE PoE, Class 3, see user guide #1 PoE Ethernet Switches/Router Provide & monitor (Common) #2 A port Injector (bench) PoE injectors need power, and most have pilot/on lights

How do I configure and install? Power PoE or 12 volt external 1) Move the Jumper 2) 12 Volt 400 ma 3) Wire to TB4-3 Vin TB4-4 GND 4) Hole in Enclosure UL 294 approved supply and this is the UL tested method

How do I configure and install? Factory Default – Lid Label

How do I configure and install? Factory Default – Lid Label

How do I configure and install? Factory Default – DIP Switch Settings

How do I configure and install? Must set the assigned IP address – PC must communication to the default address subnet – Log in to the PIM , assign the user/password and IP address – This is like all IP controllers Mercury EP1501, and Very similar to BrightBlue, SRCNX-R, SSRC, SIPNX – 100,

How do I configure and install? Go to your PC Control Panel Network Connections Local Area Connection Properties

How do I configure and install? Select Internet Protocol TCP/IP – Properties

How do I configure and install? > Change to “Static IP” > IP address , > Subnet mask > Default gateway >DSN Server >OK

How do I configure and install? With the PC set, Browse for the PIM static address » User Guide

How do I configure and install?

The Configuration Manager should only be used by individuals familiar with the OEM software, like the system integrator or system manager. Home Network – Customers IT assigns this setting Host Comm. - OEM choice Device Info Users Auto-Save Restore/Default Apply Settings Load Certificates Log out Status

How do I configure and install? DHCP is not recommended, see IT Department Default host name is the MAC address – On the sticker

How do I configure and install? DHCP is not recommended, see IT Department Default host name is the MAC address – On the sticker

How do I configure and install? DHCP is not recommended, see IT Department Default host name is the MAC address – On the sticker

How do I configure and install? This is just like an EP1501 Log in Log in as; admin/password Customer User Define new Customer User and password assigned IP Set new assigned IP address Apply Apply Settings – to save normal Set DIP switches to normal mode; – Turn off the switches, 1, 2, 4 Always push “RESET” to load the DIP SW changes PIM is now in normal mode – Customer server can assign hardware (AD400)

How do I configure and install? RF Location, Just like a PIM400 and AD400 (WRI400/WPR400) Pre-mounting test/check RF performance/distance Metal concern Antenna options are the same as the PIM400

How do I configure and install? LAN/Ethernet – Plan the drop CAT 5 cable – 300 feet IT closet - near the IP switch/router – Where the LAN install cost is low. – Take advantage of the wireless LAN Drop - IT Department work order prior to installation

How do I configure and install? ADDING to the OEM Access Software OEM Allowance file? License fee OEM Server function – HW Browser – Just like an EP1501 ALWAYS add doors sequentially, start low OEM template defines the PIM

Questions? Next Testing

Testing the PIM PIM part From the lid label

Testing the PIM EP1501 part From the lid label

Testing the PIM Use the SUS, PIM com to the AD400’s

Testing the PIM Use the OEM Access Software (Open Option below) -Card read access granted/denied -RTX, DPS, Tamper

Testing the PIM Questions? Next - Notes to Remember

Notes to Remember This has a PIM RSI, FW updates, diagnostics, LINKING, Coupling When the SUS is connected to the USB, the RS-485 communication with the EP1501 stops. – EP1501 online, AD400 off line You must remove the LID to couple - hold link1, press link2 three times – You only need to couple once The EP1501 backup hold battery can take 24 hours for the first charge. (Access rights back-up) – Power loss access is AD400 CACHE mode

Notes to Remember Schlage things are good when: The POWER led is “ON” The Ethernet LEDS (Yellow/Green) > connected to the LAN Green is blinking > LAN is active SUS Shows PIM working & Diagnostics OK (un-plug when done)

Notes to Remember POWER Green

Notes to Remember LAN Yellow/Green

Notes to Remember LED1 RED 20% off-line RED 80% On-line No LED2 = No OEM Host No LED3 = No RS485

Notes to Remember Check with the OEM SW provider when, Not “On-Line” - OEM SW loaded & running? The PIM shows “Off-Line” on the OEM server LED1 on the EP1501 is 20% red (slow 1 sec blink) = Off-Line EP1501 LED2 (host Com) & LED3 (RS485 COM) will not blink until the OEM SW is loaded, controller not assigned right. No RS485 COM - HW assigned? LED 3 and RX/TX are not blinking (LED1 & LED2 are OK) – PIM PIM address must be zero = FDR on the PIM This is also the case if the SUS is plugged into the USB

Notes to Remember RX/TX GOOD, Fast solid blink Means OEM SW OK EP1501 & PIM Are talking
