Research Q1: Conclusions Do students know about matters of Safety related to internet use? (such as Cyberbullying, Grooming, Sexting, etc) About 40% are confused about what Cyberbullying means. About 60% seem to misunderstand what Grooming means. About 60% seem to have some confusion about Sexting. About 30% seem to have some confusion about what personal data should be protected.

Research Q2: Conclusions Have students experienced any case of violation of safety? Depending on the case, 15-30% have experienced some kind of violation of safety on the internet Depending on the case, 25-40% have visited websites with inappropriate content If encouraged to take a few obscene pictures and upload them on the Internet, 9% would just do it, 11% would do it but would ask that the pictures would not be shared and 49% would think about it and probably do it if they knew more about the person who asked. 33% are in touch with people they know only on the net.

Research Q3: Conclusions Do students know how to behave in situations of violation of their safety on the Internet? About 20-30% would not act well when confronted with cyberbullying on the Internet. Correlations regarding the Age of students (independent variable) and the Answers they gave to any question (dependent variables)

Interpretation Only one significant difference between the expected and the counted values of the answers of students of different ages was found. This was in question 1.4 about Sextism: Better answers were given by students aged over 18, average answers were given by students aged and less right answers from students aged under 17 (X 2 =29.253, df=16, p=.022).

Correlations regarding the Country/School of students (independent variable) and the Answers they gave to any question (dependent variables)

Interpretation Some significant differences between the expected and the counted values of the answers of students of different countries were found. In question 1.1 about what Cyberbullying is: Better answers were given by students from Poland and Sweden, average answers were given by students from Austria and Greece and less right answers from students from Norway (X 2 =52.198, df=12, p=.000<.001)

Interpretation In question 1.2 about what Grooming is: Better answers were given by students from Austria, average answers were given by students from Poland and Sweden and less right answers from students from Norway and Greece. (X 2 =82.724, df=32, p=.000<.001)

Interpretation In questions 1.3 and 1.4 about Sexting: Better answers were given by students from Austria and Poland, average answers were given by students from Sweden and less right answers from students from Norway (Q1.3) and Greece (Q1.4). Q1.3(X 2 =97.761, df=32, p=.000<.001) Q1.4(X 2 = , df=32, p=.000<.001)

Interpretation In question 2.1 about experiencing incidents of safety violation on the internet: Less cases were reported by students from Greece and Poland, more cases were reported by the rest. (X 2 =70.668, df=48, p=.018)

Interpretation In question 2.5 about a situation of encouragement to take a few obscene pictures and upload them on the Internet: The best answers were given by students from Poland and Sweden, average answers were given by students from Greece and Austria and the worst answers were given by students from Norway. (X 2 =70.666, df=12, p=.000<.001)

Interpretation In question 3.1 about behavior if encountering a Cyberbullying incident: Better answers were given by students from Greece and Austria, average answers were given by students from Poland and Norway and not so good answers were given by students from Sweden. (X 2 =79.363, df=40, p=.000<.001)

Interpretation In question 3.2 about how to prevent themselves from being put under threat: Better answers were given by students from Greece and Poland, less good answers from the rest. (X 2 =88.366, df=48, p=.000<.001)

Correlations regarding the Gender of students (independent variable) and the Answers they gave to any question (dependent variables)

Interpretation A few significant differences between the expected and the counted values of the answers of students of different gender were found. In question 2.5 about about a situation of encouragement to take a few obscene pictures and upload them on the Internet: Better answers were given by girls. (X 2 =9.831, df=3, p=.020)

Interpretation In question 2.6 about being in touch with someone that they know only on the Net Better answers were given by girls. (X 2 =14.246, df=2, p=.001<.01)

Interpretation In question 3.3 about how to stay safe on the internet Better answers were given by girls. (X 2 =13.807, df=6, p=.032)

Interpretation In question 3.4 about if they know any organizations or Internet portals which can provide help in dealing with violence on the Internet More boys knew about such. (X 2 =20.381, df=2, p=.000<.001)

Conclusions 1/2 About 30% of students have poor knowledge about matters of Satety related to internet use. A substantial percent of students, 20-30%, have experienced some kind of violation of safety on the internet and many seem to have poor judgment about the dangers they are facing. Quite a few students, about 20-30%, do not know how to act in situations of violation of their safety on the Internet. Only 24% definitely know organizations or portals that provide help and 51% are not interested about this.

Conclusions 2/2 Only one correlation was found regarding the age of students, about sexting (older students answered better). Quite a lot correlations were found regarding the country of students, better answers were given mostly by students from Poland, after that by Austria. A few correlations were found regarding the gender of students, better answers were mostly given by girls. We have work to do…..
