Davila Colbert Third Grade News Mon.Tues.Wed.Thurs.Fri Specials- ESpecials F Specials B Reading Math There is no school Monday the 18 th - MLK Jr day! Science Jan. 11, 2016 We spent last week looking at division and this week we are representing division using picture models. We are connecting division and multiplication. We will take our fact drill on Friday (some x3 and some x4). Homework- 5-8 factors of 4 First in Math- 30 stickers by Friday Writing Thank you for helping to make our projects even better! We are sharing rapid changes and looking at landforms. SS- How communities adapt to or modify the land (mountains and plains) We are studying biographies and autobiographies. There is a new reading log coming home today. Please read at least 30 minutes each night and complete. We are exploring apostrophes. Specials A Specials G

A note from Mr. Kaciuba I would like to wish everyone a happy new year and I hope you enjoyed your holiday season with friends and family. School is back in session now and it is time to begin looking ahead to our spring performances! Attached to this is all the necessary information and permission slips that are required for students who would like to be a part of our mallet group (Spotted Half Notes) or our Drama Club. Please note the following about each group below: Spotted Half Notes: The Spotted Half Notes (SHN) is an audition-only group offered to 4th and 5th graders. Students who are interested must print, complete, and return the permission slip that is attached to this when they come to audition. Auditions take place in the mornings from 7:30- 7:55am. Please see the attached forms for all information. LSE Drama Club: The Drama Club is off and running yet again! We are ready to begin preparations for our spring production, Thwacked! by Dave and Jean Perry. The Drama Club is an after-school group open to all 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders. Students that are interested must fill out and return a permission slip before the deadline. Please see the attached forms for all information. Expectations for the Lakeshore Elementary Drama Club Students who have speaking parts or solos will memorize their lines/songs in a timely manner and come to rehearsals prepared. All students will sing all songs as required. All cast members will learn the required songs in a timely manner and come to rehearsals prepared. Cast members are expected to practice a minimum of 5 minutes a night. Students will exhibit confidence and adequate stage presence. Students will maintain excellent, positive attitudes and participate fully in music class. Students will maintain a good attitude in all school areas and classes and will not have a conduct grade lower than “S” in ANY subject. Students will keep up with their homework and will not have an academic grade below 70% in ANY subject. Costume accessories (hats, props, etc.) will be provided by the school for the winter musical. Students/parents are responsible for remaining parts of costumes. More info to follow. Students are expected to attend every rehearsal and performance. A student who misses two rehearsals without an excuse note will be dropped from the ensemble. Only Mr. Kaciuba may excuse students from rehearsals and proper documentation (doctor’s note, etc.) must be presented within 3 school days of the missed rehearsal. Emergency absences will be dealt with on an individual basis. Students are expected to fully participate during all Drama Club rehearsals. Any member who does not participate or is required to pack up early do to misbehavior during two rehearsals will be removed from Drama Club. Rehearsals will be after school on Mondays or Tuesdays (depending on group assignment) from 3:20-4:15. All students must be picked up promptly at 4:15. No student will be allowed to leave without a parent/guardian present unless other arrangements have been made prior to rehearsal. Please pick up your child at the back of the building (by the gym doors). Students who are picked up after 4:30pm will be marked tardy. Two tardy pickups will result in removal from the group. Students picked up after 4:45pm will be immediately removed from the group. Students will be notified on Friday, September 18 th what day/group they are in for drama club. Students with conflicts must mark so on the permission slip below so that they may be placed in the proper group. Students without a conflict will be assigned a group by Mr. Kaciuba. The first rehearsals for Thwacked are Monday, January 25 th or Tuesday, January 26 th from 3:20pm-4:15pm (depending on group assignments).
