Mass Media & Current News Mass Media studies and the gathering of current news from and about the Middle East is a growing field of both scholarly and general interest. The number of news sources in English from Middle Eastern countries continues to grow, as well as sources from Europe and North America.

Filmmaking in the Middle East Three distinct cinemas are found in the Middle East. Arab Cinema Films in Arabic, dominated by Egyptian cinema since the first feature films appeared in the early 1930s. Iranian Cinema The oldest and most prolific national cinema in the Middle East with films in Farsi. Israeli Cinema Cinema constructed largely by the Jewish population living in Israel/Palestine, with films dating as back as the 1930s.
