KEYHOLE GARDEN DEFINING MATERIAL REQUIREMENTS How much material do I need to build circle? Circumference equal Pi times diameter 6 x 3.14 = ft. x 12= in Height of garden for 3 ft. wall 3x12=36 Material to Filling the bin Need a dumpster’s worth of cardboard 180 phone books Three pair of blue jeans 15 bags of leaves and pile of mature Potting soil and mature to fill last six inches

Building a Low cost Keyhole Garden

Materials Needed 46 cinder blocks Brown and green recycle material 3 to 1 ratio to fill the bed Mature, top soil and compost for the last 6 inches of the bed Chicken wire and posts for basket Plastic or soil to fill inside gaps

Build the basket cover with chicken wire and install at key Fill the basket with scraps and leaves and other green manner to the top keeping moist Filling the Keyhole Garden Have a socking area setup to soak cardboard and phone books Cover with two layers of cardboard then on layer of mature Use grass clippings and sawdust sparingly Fill gaps with soil or plastic bags Continue till you get six inches to the top Cover the rest with potting soil and dried mature slopping the mixture from the basket Once this is completed you are ready to plant Finishing the Garden to Plant

Planting and Maintain Your Keyhole Garden Watering Plant your plants close together to no sun gets to the roots Watch the soil when watering if the water does not settle around root system wait till it does and then go back and water again Use drip irrigation if possible Young plants need to be watered twice a day until strong Soil When soil level drops refill with newspaper and mature using 3 to 1 ratio Maintain slop to the basket
