You will need to go to your settings menu and select Wi-Fi on the top right. When the network name “PSD Guest” appears select it Network Name:psdguest Password: We will then need to log in on Light Speed.
Travel to tinyurl.com/ipadpway3 tinyurl.com/ipadpway3 On this page you will see the presentation from last session and the presentation for this week, session 3. If you downloaded Notability you can open the presentations on their and make markings on the slides. The format may look different but all of the information is there.
We will now get some of the applications that we will be discussing during the next two sessions. Please search these names in the top right window and download them. You can start downloading them all at once and the iPad will complete the downloads on its own. The one exception is updating the operating system. You must complete your update before getting apps.

The App Store is much like the grocery store. Items aren’t stuck at one price. They tend to fluxuate. App Shopper is your personal “App Shopper” that keeps an eye on prices for you and will let you know when the App becomes more affordable. An account is required before using App Shopper.
For internet search engines there is no better place to go than the Google App. Here, you can search by typing or speaking! Let’s try it using the Google Apps we downloaded last session.
Are you wondering what the value of a certain stock is? Do you want to know when the last time Robert Redford won an Oscar Award? Do you want to know the record snowfall for February? Use Google Search… In the App you can share calendars, documents, spreadsheets, and presentations. You can even work on these items at the same time!
This is a great way to take a vacation without leaving the living room. It can even be 3 dimensional in certain places. Let’s go to the Grand Canyon, Sydney, Italy, and then London.
There are a few Apps that allow us to see reviews of restaurants, look at the menus, and even get deals on meals. If going out is not your thing then you can use an App that will give you recipes based on the ingredients you have in your house.
Using Living Social or Groupon has been a big money saver in my house over the last few months. Amazon has gotten into the mix with Amazon Local. Find deals on meals, fun things to do at a fraction of the cost, buy jewelry or flowers for Valentines Day, or even take a course at a huge discount.
With Shazam you only need to have your iPad listen to the song and it will tell you all about it. I know that it helps me from going crazy sometimes. Play those songs using an App called Pandora. You can customize your radio station with the songs, or artists, that you want to listen to. Why pay for it?
Most major banks have apps that will let you check balances, transfer funds, and even deposit checks just by taking a picture of it! So there is no excuse to not check that bank balance before purchasing that Valentine’s Day gift!!!
Don’t be tied down to the TV anymore. Television shows are all recorded and placed on the website for viewing when you want to view it. Best of all, it is free! If you have a subscription to NetFlix or Hulu Plus your options are even greater. These options come at a cost however.
Most major newspapers now have Apps that will let you get the headlines for the latest news. If you enjoy sports, there is an App called Bleacher Report that collects all of the information about your teams. If you like stocks you can download StockIdeal and Barron’s Newspaper. If you enjoy making crafts you can download the Craftsy App.
Keeping in touch with family and friends is one of the best features of the iPad. You can keep track of pictures using the Photos on your iPad or download an App called Flickr. Flickr allows you to immediately share photos with those who you want to be able to see them. Even better than Flickr is Skype. Skype is a video chatting App that looks amazing. iMessage works as well as a group chatting App called Oovoo.
WebMD is a great tool that will help make you really nervous. You name the symptoms and the App will tell you what you may have. This is for informational purposes only, of course. Lucky you! There is a PetMD as well. Extra Freak Out!!! Try some Yoga at iYoga+ HD, CalCounter, My Heart Rate, and a fun game called PopFlux.
Are you interested in doing work on your iPad? Using CloudOn is a great way to go. It gives you FREE access to all of the programs within Microsoft Office. CloudOn attaches to your DropBox account. Dragon Dictation lets you take speech and turn it into text. The speed is getting better so that students who need help taking notes or even helping us when our hands are full.
Some of the local cable companies have created ways to help you monitor your house from your iPad.
