NGUGI WA THIONGO S.BANCE

At the very beginning of chapter 1, NJOROGE had a conversation with his mother. He seemed very happy after that. What was the subject of their conversation?

“ I cannot drop the apprenticeship” said KAMAU, NJOROGE’s brother. What is KAMAU being trained for?

They rebuilt the road that ran across the land. They also built the long tarmac road and left a name for themselves because some of them went about with black women… Who are they?

There were noticeable differences on the landscape. The White settlers’ land was green and was not lacerated into small strips. Give one characteristic of the land of Black people.

In the town of Kipanga, how did Black people earn their living?

JACOBO owned the land on which NGOTHO (NJOROGE’s father) lived. A/False B/True SWALI 7 How a man who has a land was considered? A/Rich B/Polygamous C/Clever

Besides NJOROGE, his mother had another son. What happened to him in the big war?

KAMAU is angry and has mixed feelings about his apprenticeship among other things. He then concluded that: “some Europeans are better than Africans.” After your reading, what do you make/ think of this quote?

NJOROGE’s father is a very good story teller. He mentioned that: “at the beginning of things, there was only one man (Gikuyu) and one woman (Mumbi)”. This couple seems to represent some biblical characters. Who are they?

Despite the financial difficulty of the family, NJOROGE is going to get education while his brother KAMAU completes his apprenticeship in carpentry. The big war and its consequences. The town of Kipanga and the relationship between Black, Indian, and White folks.

SOUND OFF Education can be defined as the process through which knowledge, skills, attitudes, and values are imparted for the purpose of integrating the individual in a given society, or changing the values and norms of that society. It is as important in Kenya as it is everywhere else in the world. *How significant it is for you to achieve academic accomplishment? *Do you consider it the ultimate path to accomplish your dreams?
